1.a) Solve the equation 𝑥 3 + (125𝑥)3 = 14 [5]

b) solve the equation 𝑒 𝑥 + 𝑒 2𝑥 = 𝑒 3𝑥 , correct to 2 significant figures [5]

2. A circle has its Centre at the point 𝑐 (2; 5) and its radius is √10

a) Show that the equation of the circle is 𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 − 4𝑥 − 10𝑦 = 0

The straight line with equation 𝑦 = 𝑥 + 5 meets the circle at point 𝑃 and 𝑄

b) Determine the coordinates of 𝑃 and 𝑄
