Assessment Title Final Assignment (40%)

A. Introduction/ Situation/ Background Information


This final assignment is designed to enhance students' comprehension of the evolving trends
in the application of multimedia, networking, and databases concerning a provided case
study. Students are required to generate a short report answering the questions based on the
given cases, by applying their understanding knowledge in the application of multimedia,
networking, and databases.

B. Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) covered

At the end of this assessment, students are able to:

CLO2 Describe the evolving trends in the application of multimedia, networking, and
databases in relation to a specific domain. (C5, PL02)

C. University Policy on Academic Misconduct

1. Academic misconduct is a serious offense in Xiamen University Malaysia. It can be defined


as any of the following:
i. Plagiarism is submitting or presenting someone else’s work, words, ideas, data or
information as your own intentionally or unintentionally. This includes incorporating
published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form into
your work without acknowledging the source (the person and the work).
ii. Collusion is two or more people collaborating on a piece of work (in part or whole)
which is intended to be wholly individual and passed it off as own individual work.
iii. Cheating is an act of dishonesty or fraud in order to gain an unfair advantage in an
assessment. This includes using or attempting to use, or assisting another to use materials

that are prohibited or inappropriate, commissioning work from a third party, falsifying data,
or breaching any examination rules.

2. All assessments submitted must be the student’s own work, without any materials generated
by AI tools, including direct copying and pasting of text or paraphrasing. Any form of
academic misconduct, including using prohibited materials or inappropriate assistance, is a
serious offense and will result in a zero mark for the entire assessment or part of it. If there is
more than one guilty party, such as in case of collusion, all parties involved will receive the
same penalty.

D. Instruction to Students

 Work together in a group of five team members to collaboratively generate a short report by
applying their knowledge in the application of multimedia, networking, and databases.
 All team members are expected to actively contribute to the short report. The assignment
marks will be determined by the member's contribution to the assignment. Group
collaboration can be facilitated through tools like Google Docs for report drafting and
monitoring individual contributions.
 The team should maintain records of discussions, document editing, and meetings related to
the assignment. These records serve as a reference if the lecturer needs to investigate
individual contributions, collaboration efforts, or overall performance. (Records do not need
to be submitted.)
 The group is required to attach a contribution sheet outlining or briefly summarizing
each member's responsibilities and signed by all group members. Submit a softcopy of
your short report content to Turnitin for similarity checking. The Turnitin similarity should
be below 20%.

Assignment Submission:
 A Word file with the following content and order (1) assignment cover page, (2) members'
contribution sheet, (3) short report content, and (4) Turnitin report.
 Save the short report as Teamnumber.docx, for example, Team1.docx.
 The group leader is responsible for submitting the final assignment through the designated
links on the Moodle assignment page for this course.
 A late submission will incur a deduction of 2 marks per day from the awarded mark.
 All team members share the responsibility of ensuring the accuracy of the submission.
Strict adherence to submission requirements and instructions is crucial; otherwise, a
deduction of 3 marks will be applied to the total score.
 Submission Date: 11:59 pm, 22nd March 2024, Friday, Week 5.

F. Task(s)

Each team member will choose either topic 1 or topic 2 to work on individually and collaborate
on topic 3 as a team to produce a short report.
Individual topics (400 words):
1. Discussion on the application of emerging multimedia in healthcare (50%).
2. Discussion on the trend of applying IoT in healthcare to assist patients (50%).
Group topic (400 words):
3. Discussion on the emerging application of data science in the healthcare sectors (50%).
This short report aims to explore the application of multimedia, IoT, and data science in the
healthcare sector. The goal is to provide insights into the evolving trends and contributions of
these technologies to healthcare and society. The report should discuss diverse applications of
these technologies in healthcare sectors and provide illustrative examples. For example, look into
how multimedia is used in various areas of healthcare and its impact on society.

Report structure and format:


 Create a visually engaging short report. The report content (refer to section E) should be
organized with the topic titles and subtitles.
 Format:
o Titles and subtitles – Font size minimum 12, maximum 24.
o The content body - 12 points font size, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, and justify
aligned.
o Spell and grammar checked.
