1. Purpose
This document describes the procedure to be applied to restore the original conditions in the MyLab, after a
defect in the HDD, or the replacement of this part.

This procedure is different from the FORMAT procedure reported on the Service Manual and has been
introduced to speed up. Infact, the Format & Upgrade will NOT ONLY ERASE the HDD completely and partition
the disc, BUT ALSO install the Esaote software Release Build (in this case F06660X) automatically.

NOTICE
This procedure is dedicated to systems with PC model 886, it WON’T WORK WITH PC
MODEL 771 see procedure, pag.7 point 13

NOTICE
Be sure to store all Customer licence codes before proceeding with the format.
(Also XView+ license will be lost after the upgrade; you will need to insert the license code)

Save the LOG files (that include also the licences) through Menu – System Info – Export LOG
option.

If not possible, enter in menu MODEL, visualize the codes and write them down to have ready
after the upgrade.

The procedure is done in several steps:

2. Procedure
Requirements:
• USB memory drive for SW (16 GB or more)
• USB keyboard
• USB memory drive for Settings/Archive
• Service Key P/N 140009500
• Zzip software (ver 18.05 or above) – Freeware software (https://www.7-zip.org)

2.1. Saving unit settings


NOTE: DO NOT transfer settings to another system.

In case the MyLab software is running, save Settings and Archive as in point 1; otherwise, proceed as
in point 2.

1. Settings (Export Procedure)


• Press the MENU key.
• Select the “Import/Export” option.
• Export the desired settings.

Archive (Export Procedure)


• Press the ARCHIVE key.
• Select the desired exams and export them in native format to the external medium.

2. Copy Configuration and Archive folder


• Start up with the service key connected, to start up in Windows mode
• Open folder and select drive E:\Work
• Copy Archive and ConFSet folder to USB medium

Save the customized order of application by probes (RT Preset Menu) if needed by customer.

2.2. Format & upgrade

A Preparation – Creation of a bootable USB memory drive, with HDD image:

Note

Please make sure that the PC for downloading the Software Release from ownCloud site and burning
copying to USB, has the following characteristics:
- Updated security patches of the operative system and installed programs
- Installed and updated antivirus
- Installed and running firewall

To copy the software upgrade on a removable device (USB key), always and only use removable devices with
a safe content (devices scanned and used on systems protected by an anti-virus and anti-malware program).

1. Download in the same folder the “n” files named Fxxxxxx.iso.001 to Fxxxxxx.iso.nnn from ownCloud
and also md5sum.exe file and the program Rufus 2.9
2. After the installation of 7zip (if not already installed), right click on the file "Fxxxxxx.iso.001" and select
“extract here”. This operation must be performed when all *.iso.0xx file have been already downloaded.
3. The folder "Fxxxxxx" should be now available in the same folder where you downloaded all the
packages
4. Inside the folder "Fxxxxxx" there will be the "Fxxxxxx.iso"
5. Copy the "md5sum.exe" file in the folder where the file "Fxxxxxx.iso" has been extracted.
6. Open a command line and launch the following command "md5sum Fxxxxxx.iso"
7. If the results match the contents of the file "Fxxxxxx.md5" the "Fxxxxxx.iso" ISO Production File is
ready to use.
8. Create bootable USB memory drive:
a. Connect USB memory drive to PC
b. Run the program rufus.exe. NOTE: DO NOT update when asked
c. Set the Rufus fields as indicated below

d. Click START to continue

9. A warning will be displayed:

10. When DONE, click CLOSE

11. A bootable USB memory drive, with HDD image has been created.

NOTICE
Before proceeding with the procedure, disconnect any digital USB peripherals connected to the
unit.

If the equipment is equipped with the batteries, be sure that it is connected to the mains
before starting the upgrading procedure. It must remain connected to the mains during the
upgrade, including the first reboot to complete the firmware upgrade.

Please note that if, for any reason, the unit main power turns off during the upgrade, the
Installation procedure could be compromised and a factory repair of the unit or the rack
could be necessary.

B Format & upgrade:

Note

To run the format procedure the BIOS must be modified to boot from USB pen drive:

1. Connect the alphanumeric USB keyboard.


2. Turn the system on and press continuously the DEL key to enter the BIOS configuration menu.
3. In case the unit requests a password, write “laser” and press Enter ↵ to confirm.
4. If the password isn’t accepted simply press “Enter”.
5. Using the arrow keys, select the ADVANCED CMOS CONFIGURATION menu and press Enter ↵ to
confirm.
6. Select the FIRST BOOT DEVICE option.
7. Using the PgUp, PgDn, + and - keys set “IDE0 Mst”.
8. Select the SECOND BOOT DEVICE option.
9. Using the PgUp, PgDn, + and - keys set “none”.
10. Verify that the option BOOT VIDEO FIRST FROM is set to “IGD”.
11. Press Esc to return to the main menu.
12. Using the arrow keys, select the WRITE CMOS AND EXIT option and press Enter ↵ to confirm.
13. IT IS REQUIRED to check in the Target Board: if you see 0886 it’s possible to format the Mylab.
Instead if you have the PC 0771 it cannot be upgraded

14. If Target Board is 0886, it’s necessary to set the bios boot. Change the setting on boot:

15. Boot → Legacy → Boot Type Order. Setting first position USB. Connect the bootable USB pendrive.
16. Settings can be saved pressing F10 and reboot the machine. At the next start up the message
“press any key to continue” will be displayed.

After that you will have to choose the version of the Mylab. Refer to the TN for F06660x on ePortal.

17. Depending on unit, select right option:

18. The next shutdown you need to remove the USB disk (keep service key connected).
19. When the following box is shown you must press “NO”

20. During the new installation software, there will be the BIOS upgrade

21. Press “OK” when is shown the box “Correct end of whole”

22. Once the installation is complete, turn the system off and set the BIOS:
a. Connect the alphanumeric USB keyboard
b. Turn the system on and press continuously the F2 key to enter the BIOS configuration menu
c. In case the unit requests a password, write “laser” and press Enter ↵ to confirm
d. Enter the menu "Main", already highlighted by default
e. Select the menu “Boot” and select Legacy then Boot Type Order
f. Using the arrows select Hard Disk Drive and move it in first position using F5 and F6
g. Press F10 to save settings and exit.

2.3. System re-configuration

Requisites:

• Service key P/N 140009500


• Medium containing the copy of the “Archive” and “ConfSet” folders of the original settings or as an
alternative a copy of the clinical and system settings obtained via the “import/export” option in the
MENU.
• All system licenses

Procedure:

• Switch the unit on with the service key inserted.


• Double click the Workflow icon to start the MyLab software and press the MENU key.
• If necessary, select “GENERAL SET UP” option and set the local time.
• Select the “LICENCES” option and:
o First enter the model and system serial number (MODEL tab).
Press VERIFY and then SAVE
o Then insert all the licence codes.
Press VERIFY and then SAVE.
• If necessary, set the language, peripherals, network.
• If necessary, install the printer (Refer to the Getting Started manual)
• If necessary, set the printer configuration (“PRINTERS” option)
• Set a correct monitor model according to the TNs on ePortal

• If required, re-store the archive. Depending on how the archive has been saved, the corresponding
procedure:

Archive Saved through its Menu:


• Press the ACHIVE key
• Select the external medium containing the archive
• Select the desired exams and export them from the external medium in native format into the
local archive.

Archive Saved by Copying the “Archive” Folder:


• Start up with the service key connected, to start up in Windows mode
• Copy Archive folder from USB medium
• Open folder and select drive E:\Work and paste the Archive folder

Depending on how the settings had been saved, follow the corresponding procedure:

NOTE
When the settings are not saved nor exported, the settings must be set manually.

• Press the MENU key.
• Select the “Import/Export” option.
• Import the desired settings.

Settings Saved by Copying the “ConfSet” Folder


• Start up with the service key connected, to start up in Windows mode
• Copy ConFSet folder from USB medium
• Open folder and select drive E:\Work and paste the ConFSet folder
