Purpose

This document provides step by step guidelines to help you install Hydronia software and
licensing components.

Software Installation

1. If you are installing on a PC running Windows 7 or later, you must be logged on the
PC as an administrator before you begin the installation.
2. Download your software from the link provided when purchased.
3. Run the installation.
4. A reboot will be required. Please reboot before going to the next section.

Activation

Before running the software the license needs to be activated.

There are two types of licensing models for RiverFlow2D:

• Standalone – A single license for one computer that can activate only once.
• Network – A centralized license that allows multiple concurrent users depending on
license count purchased. This requires additional software to be installed on an accessible
computer on your network.

Standalone Activation

1. To activate your software, you must open RiverFlow2DDIP shortcut on your desktop.
2. In the Control Data section on the left side, go to Options and select License.
3. You will be prompted to select one of three options:
a. Reactivate License
b. Install Network License Server
c. Check for Updates
4. Select Reactivate License.
5. The following dialog will appear:
6. Select “Configure as a standalone program”.
7. Enter the license key provided to you:

8. Press “OK”. CopyMinder protection will connect to the CopyMinder site to check the
settings defined for this product code and license.

9. The next dialog asks for the Product Registration data. Please fill out the required fields:
10. Once registration is complete, please proceed to the section “Enabling Plugins for
RiverFlow2D and OilFlow2D in QGIS”.
Network Server Installation

A network installation allows the use of your software on any number of machines on the same
network, but limits the number of simultaneous users of your software.

The client machines will communicate with this server to carry out protection checks.

The Network Administrator will need a CopyMinder license key (configured to allow network
installation) to activate the installation on the server. It is recommended that the Network
Administrator does not reveal this license key to end-users, to avoid the potential confusion of
the user trying to activate their copy of your software as a single user installation using that
license key (this will not work).

The Network Administrator runs CMserver.exe with its associated files (defined and distributed
by Hydronia) in the network server.

1. To activate your software, you must open RiverFlow2DDIP shortcut on your desktop.
2. In the Control Data section on the left side, go to Options and select License.
3. You will be prompted to select one of three options:
a. Reactivate License
b. Install Network License Server
c. Check for Updates
4. Select Install Network License Server.
5. CMServer will display a configuration window.

6. Choose “Startup Modes” as Application or Service. Service is recommended.

Note: The most common situation is a Service where no login is required and the
RiverFlow2Dm5.exe runs as a background task. (Application requires the user to log in on the
server and requires further Administration steps).

7. In “Network Configuration”, Automatic is recommended. Click Start.

8. After clicking “Start”, a License Key is required. Please refer to the network license
generated by Hydronia Support.
9. You will be prompted to add an exception to the firewall rules.

10. Select “Automatically Configure Windows Firewall”.

11. Next, input your details for Product Registration in the required fields:

12. If successful, the following message will appear:

13. You may now install network clients on other machines.

Who is using the software in a Network Installation?
You can check how many users are occupying each license and know their computer ID.

In the CMServer viewer, all the licenses in use are displayed, with the machine name or IP
address and username. If CMserver is running as a service, you can start the GUI for the viewer
from the command line with this command:

cmserver /viewer

It will connect to the service and display the information.

See the example below.

Network Client Installation

Once CMServer is running on the server, the RiverFlow2D or OilFlow2D programs and
dependencies must be installed on each client workstation computer. Please refer to installation
steps in the Software Installation section. The steps below assume you have already run the
installation program and are ready to activate.

1. To activate your software, you must open RiverFlow2DDIP shortcut on your desktop.
2. In the Control Data section on the left side, go to Options and select License.
3. You will be prompted to select one of three options:
a. Reactivate License
b. Install Network License Server
c. Check for Updates
4. Select Reactivate License
5. Select Configure as a Network Client.

Note: In most cases the software will automatically detect the presence of the CopyMinder
Network Server and the details will be filled in. Click OK. If it does not fill this information in,
input the IP address or computer name followed by “:10589” without quotations.

6. The window shows the name of the network server (LenovoJJ:10589 in this example):

7. Click OK. After “OK”, the program should run as expected.

8. Repeat this process for each RiverFlow2D or OilFlow2D network client.

Note: The client can be installed on as many computers as desired in the network, but the model
will only run concurrently as defined in the license settings by RiverFlow2D or OilFlow2D.
Enabling RiverFlow2D or OilFlow2D Plugin in QGIS

By Default, the first time you run QGIS, the plugins developed for RiverFlow2D or OilFlow2D
will not be enabled. You must enable them from the Plugins menu as shown.
Enabling RiverFlow2D in Aquaveo’SMS

To link RiverFlow2D with SMS, please do as follows:

1. Run the SMS program.

2. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
3. Select the File Locations Tab.
4. Scroll down in the Model Executable section till you see the Generic section.
5. Click the Browse button and find the directory that contains the RiverFlow2Dm4.exe
executable that is located on:
C:\Program Files\Hydronia\RiverFlow2D and select the RiverFlow2Dm4.exe file.
6. Click OK to exit.

Troubleshooting

Please report any error message that the installation may show to Hydronia Help Desk at
[email protected].

Finding your activation license

If you ever have an issue related to your installation, you can find the license key in the
following files with Notepad, based on the version of activation you used:

Standalone – C:\ProgramData\AVU\RF2DA.ini

Network License Server – C:\Program Files\Hydronia\LicenseManager\RF2DA.ini
