READING COMPREHENSION:

APEC stands for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. It is a group of


21 countries that work together to make trade and economic growth better
in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC was startedin 1989. Some members of
APEC are the United States, China, Japan, Australia, and South Korea.
The main goal of APEC is to help people and businesses in the region
become more successful.Every year, leaders from APEC countries meet
to talk about how to make trade easier and solve economic problems
together.
APEC focuses on three important things:
1. Trade: APEC makes it easier to buy and sell things between countries.
2. Economy: APEC helps countries work together to make their economies strong.
3. People: APEC helps create jobs and protects the environment for people in the region.
APEC is important because it helps countries cooperate and share ideas to make life better for
everyone.
