Here is a list of common computer shortcut keys for Windows, Mac, and general

applications. These shortcuts can greatly improve your efficiency when using a computer.

Windows Shortcuts

General Shortcuts:

 Ctrl + C – Copy
 Ctrl + X – Cut
 Ctrl + V – Paste
 Ctrl + Z – Undo
 Ctrl + Y – Redo
 Ctrl + A – Select All
 Ctrl + F – Find
 Ctrl + S – Save
 Ctrl + P – Print
 Ctrl + N – New window or document
 Ctrl + O – Open a file
 Alt + Tab – Switch between open applications
 Ctrl + Shift + Esc – Open Task Manager
 Windows + D – Show or hide the desktop
 Windows + L – Lock your PC
 Windows + E – Open File Explorer
 Windows + R – Open the Run dialog box
 Windows + I – Open Settings
 Ctrl + Shift + N – Create a new folder in File Explorer

Navigation Shortcuts:

 Alt + F4 – Close the current window


 Ctrl + W – Close the current tab or window
 Windows + M – Minimize all windows
 Windows + Shift + M – Restore minimized windows
 Windows + Arrow keys – Snap windows to the sides or corners of the screen
 Ctrl + Tab – Switch between tabs in a browser or document

File Explorer Shortcuts:

 Alt + Enter – Open the Properties of a selected file


 Ctrl + Shift + E – Show all folders in File Explorer
 F2 – Rename selected file
 F5 – Refresh the current window
 Ctrl + Shift + T – Reopen the last closed folder in File Explorer

Mac Shortcuts

General Shortcuts:
 Command + C – Copy
 Command + X – Cut
 Command + V – Paste
 Command + Z – Undo
 Command + Shift + Z – Redo

 Command + Arrow keys – Move to the beginning or end of a document
 Control + Command + D – Look up selected word in Dictionary

Finder Shortcuts:

 Command + T – Open a new tab in Finder


 Command + Shift + N – New folder in Finder
 Command + Delete – Move selected item to Trash
 Command + Shift + G – Go to folder in Finder
 Command + Option + T – Show or hide the Finder toolbar
