Scene 1:
Scene: The story starts where the family is currently having their breakfast. Nana
prepares breakfast for the family.
Father shows up late and greets his family
Kate: “Mom. Dad. I’m so bored. Can we somewhere at the weekend?”
Mother: “Sure, honey. I think Boracay is a good place.”
Father’s phone rings
Father: “Excuse me”
…
Mother: “Who was it?”
Father: "Uh just a colleague of mine at work. We talked about this new case…”
Father: "Children. Honey. I must go to work now. Nana, get my bag.”
Kate and Baby Jane: “Goodbye dad!”
*Father and mother hugs
Friend 1: “Kate, you’re so lucky with your mom and dad”
Friend 2: "What a lovely family.”
While the father was at the workplace, the mother kept calling him. Annoyed by his
wife’s clinginess, the father answers the call.
Mother: "What time will you go home?" the mother said impatiently.
Father: "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm still working. Don't you
understand?!” Mother: "I'm sorry... I'll call you later. Please don't be mad"
Father: "I've had enough of you Jenna! We'll talk later."
Scene 2:
Father comes home, and the family greets him.
Kate: “Goodnight mom and dad. *yawns”
Jane: “I don’t want to go to sleep.”
Father and mother fights
Jenna: “Where have you been, Nico? I called you all night. Why didn’t you pick up?”
Nico: (Throws his jacket on the floor, glaring) “Why should I answer? Maybe I stayed
out because I needed a break from your constant nagging.”
Jenna: “It’s not nagging, Nico. I’m scared. You’ve been coming home late and angry
every night. I just want to know what’s happening.”
Nico: (Steps closer, face twisted in anger) “You want to know what’s happening?”
(Grabs her wrist tightly) “This is what’s happening—you keep pushing me with your
accusations!
Jenna: “Nico, you’re hurting me! Let go!”
Nico: (Shoves her against the wall) “Stop acting like a victim, Jenna. This is what you
get when you push me too far!”
Jenna: (Sobbing, clutching her bruised wrist) “I can’t do this anymore, Nico. You’re
scaring me.”
Nico: (Laughs bitterly, stepping back) “Scared of me? You’re pathetic. Go on, leave—
see if anyone cares.”
Scene 3:
Scene: The child goes to the mall with her friends. While the girls are fussing at the
clothing store, Kate sees a familiar man. After staring she realizes that it was her dad.
She was about to call her dad when the woman, Rachel, clings unto her dad's arm. Kate
cannot believe what she just saw. Her dad was with another woman, and they looked so
sweet.
Friend 1: “Kate! Look at this. It’s so pretty”
Friend 2: “I like this one better.”
Kate looks back at her dad again, but she could not find him.
Kate: “Girls, I think I have to go home.”
At home, Kate hurriedly goes to her mother.
Kate: "Mom! You won’t believe what I just saw. Dad is having an affair!"
Mother: "Darling, that is impossible. Your dad... loves us. I'm sure it was not your dad"
Kate: “But Mom... I saw him. It looked just like him.”
Mother: (Steps closer, gently placing a hand on Kate’s shoulder) “Honey, you must be
confused. It couldn’t have been your dad.”
Kate: “Okay, Mom... if you say so.”
Scene 4:
Scene: The living room smells of freshly cooked food. Her mother ties a ribbon around
a small cake.
Kate: “Mom, where are we going?”
Mother: “My friend isn’t feeling well, and it’s her birthday today. We’re going to surprise
her, okay?”
Kate: “Sure, let’s go.”
Kate helps her mother carry the food. They arrive at the friend’s house…
Mother: “Light the candle first. On the count of three, open the door, and we’ll surprise
her with a birthday song.”
Kate: (Rolling her eyes playfully) “Alright, Mom. 1, 2, 3…”
Kate swings the door open, ready to sing. The room falls into complete silence. They
see Kate’s father lying in bed, asleep next to Rachel, the mother’s friend.
Kate: “Mom... what is this? Why is Dad here?”
The mother grabs Kate’s arm, pulling her back.
Mother: “Let’s go home, Kate.”
Kate: “But Mom—what’s going on? Why won’t you explain?”
Mother: “Not here, Kate. We’re leaving. Now.”
Kate is dragged out of the house, her expression a mix of confusion and hurt as they
leave the cake behind on the floor.
Scene 5:
Setting: Nico’s birthday party. The room is filled with guests. Kate is with Little Jane,
playing with balloons. Jenna steps forward with a glass in her hand.
Jenna: (Tapping her glass) “Thank you all for coming to celebrate Nico’s birthday. But
before we continue, there’s something I need to say.”
Nico, confused, steps toward her.
Nico: “Jenna, what are you doing?”
Jenna: “No more lies, Nico. I have proof of what you’ve done—the abuse, the affairs.
I’m not staying silent anymore.”
Nico: “What are you talking about?”
Jenna: “I know about you and Rachel. I’ve seen enough.”
Rachel: “Jenna, I—I didn’t mean—"
Jenna: “Don’t speak! You were my best friend! How could you betray me like this?”
Without warning, she slaps Rachel across the face.
Jenna: “You were supposed to be my friend! I trusted you!”
Nico steps toward Jenna. He grabs her wrist roughly.
Nico: “You think you can do whatever you want? Don’t forget who’s the one who pays
the bills around here!”
Jenna: “Let go of me, Nico! You’ve hurt me enough!”
Two police officers enter the room.
Police Officer: “Mr. Nico, you’re under arrest for domestic abuse and infidelity. Please
come with us.”
Nico: “Jenna, you can’t do this to me!”
Nico was forcefully dragged out of the house. Jenna hugs Kate and Jane, tears in her
eyes.
Jenna: “We’re free now, my girls.”
