2010 MAZDA3 (WITH MANUAL SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT) - SQUEAKING NOISE FROM DRIVER SEAT WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING

BULLETIN NOTE
This bulletin supersedes the previous bulletin 09-040/09 issued on 07/29/09. The REPAIR PROCEDURE has been revised. Changes are noted below in Red beside the change bar.

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010 Mazda3 (with manual seat height adjustment) vehicles with VINs lower than JM1 BL**** ** 181962 (produced before July 6, 2009)

DESCRIPTION
Some customers may complain of a squeaking noise from the drivers seat while the vehicle is running. The squeak noise comes from the front axis of the seat height adjustment shaft and the cushion side frame. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern. 2. Set the drivers seat to the highest position using the seat height adjustment lever. 3. Remove the drivers seat from the vehicle. Refer to Workshop manual section 09-13 FRONT SEAT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION. 4. Apply molybdenum spray grease to the axis on both the left (L) and right (R) sides near the front of seat. NOTE: The squeak will return if any other type of grease is used (i.e. white lithium, paste type molybdenum), and any additional claims for the same repair will be reviewed by Warranty.

5. Set up the drivers seat in the vehicle. 6. Move the seat height adjustment lever up and down twice to spread the applied grease. 7. Install the drivers seat in the vehicle. Refer to Workshop manual section 09-13 FRONT SEAT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION. 8. Verify repair.
