a. Course Description: This course covers the fundamentals of astrophysics and thermonuclear
reactions in stars along with fusion reactions pivotal in understudying stars and Stellar objects.
b. Course Objectives: The objective of the course on Astrophysics is to make student understand
about the basic concept of stellar systems and the evolution of the universe. The student will also
get an elementary introduction to the space-time geometry and other basic ideas of the General
theory of relativity.
c. Course Outcomes: On completion of this course, the students are expected to
CO1 Apply the ideas of stellar structure to find the evolution of galactic systems
CO2 Understand the fundamental processes of the stars based on their atomic composition
CO3 Understand nucleo-synthesis beyond iron and r- and s- processes.
CO4 Understand and apply the concepts of Thermonuclear reactions in stars, fusion reactions
CO5 Understand concepts of Lorentz transformation and Time dilation
CO6 Apply and analyze the ideas of modern-day cosmology and General theory of relativity
