1.0 Preface

Welcome to your FFS B757 Briefing Package!

You are participating in a screening for DHL Austria GmbH.


The simulator is located at the DHL Simulator Training Center at Leipzig/Halle Airport
in Germany.

The screening does not require Type-rating and System Knowledge on Boeing Air-
planes. This program is designed for all pilots, regardless of their held type-rating.

During the screening you will be accompanied by two assessment pilots, one Assisting
Pilot supporting you as Pilot Monitoring and one Assessor Pilot.

You will become acquainted with the program in a briefing of approximately 30


minutes and also get the opportunity to ask potential questions.

The Highlights of the screening belong to these sectors:

• Application of Procedures

• Workload Management

• Situational Awareness

• Communication

• Knowledge

The program will be flown with LIDO charts.

These Charts will be forwarded to you prior beginning the screening in the Simulator.

2.0 Overview
1. Aircraft ready for Take-off on Runway

o No MEL items or System failures

o Weather conditions at least according to circling minima

o No Autopilot, Flight director, Autothrottle and FMS available

o Flaps 5

o Manual raw data flying

o Both NAV displays in VOR CTR mode

2. Standard Instrument Departure

3. Airwork (Steep turns)

4. Radial intercept inbound Holding Fix

5. Holding entry followed by one complete Holding Pattern

6. Standard ILS out of the holding fix

7. Full stop landing

3.0 Screening Agreements


• Applicant must initiate manoeuvres and actions when deemed necessary

• All briefings should be performed as pilot flying and in English.

• MCP (Mode Control Panel) Handling:

o Will be performed by PM on command of applicant


(“Set HDG, SPEED…as definite figures”)

o MCP Altitude will be set to 20000 ft

o MCP Speed will be set to V2

o MCP Heading will be set to RWY HDG

• Autoflight-System:

o ATHR and FD on during Takeoff until Thrust reduction. (1500 ft AGL) When
When engines stabilized at Climb thrust, switch off ATHR and FD.

o NAV Display in VOR CTR Mode

• Pilot Monitoring Duties:

o Although PM does not call out any repeated deviations and acts only
upon your precise request, you will be flying in a two pilot cockpit as Pilot
Flying. Keep your PM in the loop.

o PM is able to take over control during straight and level flight, constant
speed, for a short time (i.e. chart preparation; APP briefing shall be per-
formed as PF)

o PM will perform duties on request of applicant: e.g. tuning and identifying


of navigational aids, select gear, flaps, etc.

o Flight deck preparation: by DHA pilot (CM1). Type-rated candidates


might be requested to do it, if time permits.

4.3 Screening program

Lesson starts in T/O Pos. Flaps 5, Engines Running.

Please perform a standard departure briefing for EDDP.

Callsign: “DHA 1” "Yellowtail 1"

CM1 keeps hands on the THOTTLES till V1


CM2 takes over THROTTLES for first power reduction (acc alt 2000 ft MSL).
T/O Rotation Rate 2-3°/sec; Initial Pitch attitude ~15°
"Positive rate" > "Gear up"

Initial Climb at V2+20.

At acceleration altitude 2000ft reduce thrust to climb Thrust 1.25/1.30 EPR and simultaneously
lower pitch to 10°. Acceleration to 250kts and flap retraction on schedule.

Applicant commands Gear/Flap retraction to PNF e.g., “Gear up”, “Flaps 1”

Level off
according SID, before reaching departure fix Radar vectors and climb clearance to FL 70.

At FL 70 Airwork

“Steep turn right 180° then left 180°”, as announced by assessor (45°Bank)

Radial intercept towards Holding Fix

“DHA 1, intercept radial XXX of holding fix and enter standard holding.
“Descend Holding altitudw, QNH 1002, speed at pilots discretion”
