Instrument #01:
Digital Storage Oscilloscope
 Specifications:
 100 MHz Bandwidth
 1 GSa/s Real-Time Sampling Rate (Total of 2 A-D converters)
 14 MPts Waveform Memory
 500 uV/div Sensitivity
 Maximum waveform capture rate: 100,000 frames / second (Standard mode), 400,000
frames / sec (Sequence mode)
 Serial bus decode & trigger: standard
 Digital trigger provides low jitter
 Channels: 4
 Working principle:
The working principle of the digital oscilloscope is that it samples the input signal using
analogue to digital signal converter. After sampling the input signal waveform is
reconstructed by DSO and at last displayed on the screen.

 Functions and Applications:

 Used to display four quantities at a time for easy analysis of signals.
 Used to test and display voltage signals.
 Used for medical purposes especially for heartbeat display.
 Used in the power industry to check voltage variations.
 Used in the electronics industry to test various electronics devices.
 Experiments:
 Different waveforms analysis.
 Phase shift of two waveforms.
 Calculating frequency.

Instrument #02:
Digital Multimeter
 Specifications:
 High resolution of 10μV, 10μA, 10mΩ, 0.01Hz
 Manual or auto ranging
 0.03% DCV accuracy
 1000V high voltage range
 AC or AC + DC true rms
 Overload protection
 Working Principle:
The working principle of a digital multimeter is somewhat similar to a simple multimeter.
The only difference is the display of the output reading. Actually, a multimeter acts as the
ammeter to measure current, ohmmeter to measure resistance and voltmeter to measure
voltage with different ranges. These all devices consist of a galvanometer with different
configurations. The Galvanometer causes change in the reading when current passes
through it, which is in term produced by the magnetic field generated by moving charges.
Different resistances will make it ammeter or voltmeter. At the end, after measuring the
input, the output goes through analogue to digital converter and thus displays a digital
value.

 Functions and Applications:

 Used for AC/DC detection
 Used in electronics industry to inspect devices manufactured
 Used for measuring potential barriers of a diode
 Used to check connectivity of a circuit
 Used for inspecting faulty devices
 Used to calculate power efficiency
 Experiments:
 Basic measuring of voltage, current and resistance
 Measuring power consumption by a circuit
 Calculating power losses in a circuit
 Calculating basic parameters like resistance etc.
