1. In the diagram, A is a house which due east of a mosque B. Feeder roads run from A to C
and from C to B. A foot path leads from C to the point D to AB. The distance between
these places are measured as follows; /AC/ = 58m, /AD/ = 71m, /AD/ = 96m and <ABC
= 28° , calculate: (a) The bearing of C from A, correct to the nearest degree (b) The
distance BD, correct to the nearest metre.
(b) A rectangle field is L meter long and B meter wide. Its perimeter is 280 meters. If the
length is two and a half times its breadth, find the value of L and B.
5. (a) Tickets for a movie premiere cost $18.50 each, while the bulk purchase for 5 tickets is
$80.00. If 4 gentlemen decide to get a fifth person to join them so that they can share the
bulk purchase price equally, how much would each person save?
(b) In a market survey, 100 traders sell fruits. 40 sell apples, 46 oranges, 50 mangoes, 14
apples and oranges, 15 apples and mangoes and 10 sell the three fruits. Each of the 100
traders sells at least one of the three fruits. (i) Represent this information on a venn
diagram. (ii) Find the number that sell oranges and mangoes only.
