Relative (Local) maximum and relative (Local) minimum

We now consider one of the most important applications of the
derivative. Here we use the first derivative as an aid in determining the
<high points" or the "low points on a curve. To do this, we follow the
mathematical procedure of defining a relative maximum and relative
minimum.

Relative minimum
A function f has or attains a relative minimum at x=X, if
there exists an interval a <x<b containing 'x, such that
