ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I take this opportunity to express my deep sense of gratitude and sincere thanks to
all who helped me to complete the Seminar successfully.

I am deeply indebted to my guide Umar A, Assistant Professor, Department of

Mechanical Engineering, for his excellent guidance, positive criticism, and
valuable comments. I am greatly thankful to Dr. Shafi K A, Head of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering, for his support and cooperation.

Finally, I thank my parents and friends near and dear ones who directly and
indirectly contributed to the successful completion of my seminar.

ABSTRACT

The study is about the use of Selective laser melting (SLM) which is an additive
manufacturing process (AM) for the fabrication of Ti6Al4V alloy. For the purpose of
studying about the properties of Ti alloy manufactured using SLM, Optical microscope,
scanning electron microscope, X-diffraction, tribometer etc. are used.

The results shows that the use of additive manufacturing has a definite advantage over
traditional process, but further study needs to be done on the betterment of its properties.
