11. a) i) A sample of 900 members has a mean of 3.4 cm and standard deviation of 2.61 cm. Ap CO1

Is the sample from large population of mean of 3.25 cm and standard deviation of
2.61 cm?
Test at 5% level of significance. The value of z at 5% level is | |<1.96. (8) Ap CO1
ii) Sandal powder is packed into packets by a machine. A random sample of 12 packets
is drawn and their weights in kg are found to be 0.49, 0.48, 0.47, 0.48, 0.49, 0.50,
0.51, 0.49, 0.48, 0.50, 0.51 and 0.48. Test if the average weight of the packing can
be taken as 0.5 kg at 5% level of significance. (8)

b) i) The demand for a particular spare part in a factory was found to vary from day-to- Ap CO1

day. In a sample study the following information was obtained.
