HSM User Guide - Overlaying Injections From Different Series
HSM User Guide - Overlaying Injections From Different Series
PURPOSE This HSM User Guide illustrates how to copy an injection from a different
injection series in either the same or different Application and overlaying the injection with
injections from the new series.
PROCEDURE
Step 1. If your injection table shows the ‘Delete Injs’ and ‘Copy Injs’ buttons as disabled,
then follow Steps 2-5 of this User Guide. If the buttons are already enabled, then proceed
directly to Step 6.
Step 2. Close any open sessions of the HSM D-7000 Program and open the HSM
Administrator Program

Step 5. Click the ‘OK’ box and exit the Administrator Program, then click on the ‘OK’
button when the following message appears:
Step 6. At this point you will copy injections from one series into another series so that
they will all appear in one injection table to allow for the multi-displaying of chromatograms
for direct comparison.
For example, this is how your injection table might look before adding the new injection
from another series injection (compare this to the illustration in Step 1 of this User Guide
and note that the ‘Delete Injs’ and ‘Copy Injs’ buttons are enabled):

Step 7. To copy an injection into a new series (and even a new Application, if desired) click
on the ‘Copy Injs’ button and the following dialogue box appears:
The user can select among the available Applications on the left side window under
‘Destination Applications:” (or just select the current Application). The user also has the
choice of adding the copied injection into either (a) a New Series or (b) an Existing Series.
It is recommended that a New Series be created and all of the desired injections be placed
into the new Series to minimize confusion with the original series data set.
If the ‘New Series’ radiobutton is selected, then the Copy Injections dialogue box appears as
follows (the lower box disappears entirely):
The next numbered series will automatically be used (in this example,
the last series number was ‘0002’ so the next one being created is
‘0003’). Click on the ‘OK’ button.

Step 8. Open the data file by selecting the appropriate Application folder and clicking on
the ‘Reprocess Data’ button on the Main Window (left side of the screen)
Highlight the data and click on ‘OK’ to view the new injection table:
Step 9. Repeat Steps 6-8 to select and add another injection from a different Series or
Application into this Injection Table to perform the Multi-Display. In this case you would
select ‘Existing Series’ for Step 7 and select Series ‘0003’ to add the new injection for the
overlay. There are now two new injections in the new Series.

Step 10. Highlight the desired injections by holding the <Ctrl> key and left-mouse clicking
on the desired injections, then click on the ‘Multi-Display’ button to view the overlaid data:
In the above example, the blank and a standard injection are overlaid.
Refer to the HSM Help windows (by pressing the <F1> key) for detailed information on how
to manipulate the multi-displayed windows.
