Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX

TWO PART STRUCTURAL GRADE POLYMER MODIFIED
REPAIR MORTAR

Description

Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX

Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX is a two component polymer modified repair mortar composed of powder
component based on cement binder, properly graded aggregates and additives & second component is specially
developed liquid polymer. It is to be mixed with water on site to produce a highly consistent, high strength
cement mortar. It is specially designed for reapirs of RCC members like beams & columns, slabs & walls because
it provides high compressive strengths, high resistance to chlorides and carbon dioxide.

Areas of Application
Repair & Reinstatement of
£Spalled concrete in R.C.C. members - beams, columns, etc

Features & Benefits

£ Strength - Develops high initial and final strengths, helps in early completion of repairs.
£ Ease of application - Can be applied by hand like conventional mortars.
£ Bonding - Excellent bond to concrete substrate prevent delamination & cracking.
£ Corrosion - Contains no chloride admixture hence no corrosion of rebars.
£ Permeability - Extremely low permeability provides maximum protection against carbon dioxide and chlorides.
£ Moisture ingress - Offers excellent resistance to moisture ingress prevents corrosion.
£ Shrinkage - Shrinkage compensated hence do not crack.
£ Thickness - Suitable for repair of thickness up to 50 mm.

Method Of Application

1 S U R FAC E P R E PA R ATI O N
£ Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove all scale and corrosion deposits mechanically
or ideally by grit blasting.
£ Clean the surface and remove loose concrete, any dust, oil paint, grease etc.
£ Pre wet the surface with water and allow it dry slightly.

2 PRIMING
£ Apply Dr. Fixit Zinc Primer over the cleaned re-bars & allow to dry before repair.
£ The substrate should be primed by applying one neat/clear coat of Dr. Fixit Epoxy Bonding Agent

3 M IXI N G
£ For normal application use 2.75 to 3 litres of potable water per 25 kg. bag of Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX.
£ First add polymer into water and mix for 2 minutes.

£ Then add powder slowly and mix for 3 minutes till homogeneous mix is obtained. Mixing must be done with a

forced action mixer.

4 A P P L I CATI O N
£ Apply the mix Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX to the prepared substrate by hand when primer becomes tacky.
Ensure that the material has reached evenly behind bars.
£ Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX can be applied from 10 to 15 mm thickness in a single application.
£ Built up required thickness in layers of 15 mm accompanied with bonding agent.
£ Mild cure the prepared surface with water for 3 days.

Precautions & Limitations

Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX

£ For a repair thickness more than 20 mm, bond coat is recommended before applying next layer.
£ Minimum thickness to be 10 mm.
£ For cold conditions upto 50C, warm water upto 300C must be added, to help Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX
quickly gain strength.
£ Strictly maintain water powder ratio.
£ Only use mechanical device for mixing, avoid hand mixing at site.
£ Use Dr. Fixit Epoxy Bonding Agent for critical applications.
£ In case of reduction in rebar size, consult local structural engineer.
£ Do not add sand or cement in Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX at site.
