Symptom
Performing various actions on an ADSO, RSPM managed InfoObject (only in BW/4HANA) one of the following messages can appear:
RSPM102 Process &1 has status Finished with errors and cannot be closed
RSPM107 Data target &1 is locked by process &2
RSPM105 Locking of process &1 was refused by external tool (e.g. DTP)
RSPM116 Assignment of requests to process does not exist
Environment
SAP NetWeaver 7.50
SAP BW/4HANA
Reproducing the Issue
Perform one of the actions below related to an ADSO or RSPM_MANAGED InfoObject:
Request or content deletion
Request activation
Starting a Data Transfer Process
Switching from/to Planning mode
Executing a Streaming Process Chain etc.
Cause
There is a technically active process, which locks the object.
Resolution
Apply the notes:
2294504 - RSPM 102 because of aborted new DMART extraction from ADSO
2225908 - Error Message 'Data target ... is locked by process ... (internal ...)' after DTP Load
And then proceed with the steps below:
In BW/4HANA and in BW 7.50 above SP03 there is a function in transaction RSPM_MONITOR, which can be used to forcefully set the
status of such technically active processes to red.
Forcing the status of an RSPM process to red can and should only be done, if the user is absolutely sure, that the
corresponding processes were really finished and that they are not active anymore. Therefore before performing this
action it is recommended to consult with a local BW functional expert to ensure that really active processes are NOT
cancelled forcefully.
The following steps describe how such processes can be set to red:
1. Open transaction RSPM_MONITOR;
2. Enter the technical name of the affected Object to the field "Data Target;"
3. In the section "Date selection" define the date interval which includes the starting date of the hanging Process TSN;
4. In the field "Process status" enter the value 'Y' (active):
In the resulting list all active processes for a particular object can be evaluated.
1. Search for the process which is mentioned in the longtext of the message RSPM107 and double click on it;
2. If the process was really cancelled and no jobs or dialog work processes are active, then the status can be forced to red with the button
"Change status to red:"
For BW 7.40 follow the manual steps from the note 2225908.
If none of the above actions resolve the issue, you may implement SAP Note 2920477 in your system, which delivers
report RSPM_CLOSE_FAILED_PROCESSES. This report will close possible open processes and release the lock. Read the SAP Note for more
information before implementing it.
