Workshop Proposal Document: Introduction to 3D

Printing & Simple 3D Design Using Tinker CAD

Workshop Title:

Discover the World of 3D Printing: Design & Create

Objective:

To introduce school children to the exciting world of 3D printing, teach them how to create

simple 3D designs using TinkerCAD, and provide a live demonstration of 3D printing

selected designs.

Target Audience:

School students (Grades 6-12)

Workshop Duration:

2-3 Hours

Workshop Highlights:

 Introduction to 3D Printing

- What is 3D printing?

- How does it work? (Overview of FDM technology)

- Applications of 3D printing in education, healthcare, engineering, and more.

 Hands-On Session: Designing with TinkerCAD

- Introduction to TinkerCAD: A beginner-friendly design tool.


- Step-by-step guidance on creating simple 3D models (e.g., keychains, nameplates, or

basic shapes).

- Tips and tricks for designing printable models.

 Live 3D Printing Session

- Randomly select some student-created models for live 3D printing.

- Demonstrate how to prepare the model for printing (slicing software overview).

- Explain the 3D printing process as the models are being printed.

 Q&A and Interaction

- Encourage questions about 3D printing and designing.

- Discuss career opportunities in 3D printing.

0:45 - 1:30 Hands-On Session with Students create their own 3D

TinkerCAD designs with guidance.

1:30 - 2:00 Live 3D Printing of Selected Showcase 3D printing and

Designs explain the process.

2:00 - 2:15 Q&A and Closing Interactive discussion and

feedback.
