transfer co-efficient. Ans. 1.11

Problem 2.5: Air at a temperature of 200C is flowing along a heated flat plate maintained at 1340C
with a velocity of 3 m/s. The plate is 2 m long and 1.5 m wide. Calculate the local heat transfer
co-efficient at a distance of 40 cm from the leading edge of the plate. Also, calculate the heat transfer

Problem 2.6: A compressor disc of radius 0.5 m rotating at 18000 rpm in air at 5 bar and 4000C. The

viscosity of air is given by the following expression kg/m-s. where T is the

temperature of air in absolute scale. Calculate the Reynolds number and state whether the flow is

laminar or turbulent. Hints: Velocity , , density, ,
