Home Take Assignment: Formal Methods Tools
Assignment Title: [Z Notation, VDM, CSP, TLA+, Alloy]
The report contents must include
1. Introduction: Briefly introduce formal methods in software engineering [2 pages].
2. Tool Introduction: Provide a brief overview of selected formal method tool, including its
history, key features, and areas of application [4 pages].
3. Case Study: Select a software system or problem scenario to model using tools chosen and
state its functionalities [4 pages].
4. Modeling, Validation and Verification: Using the selected tool, create formal model that
represent the system or scenario. Include specifications, constraints, and any necessary
assumptions. Demonstrate how each tool can be used for validation and verification of the
models created. Discuss the strengths and limitations of the tool used [10 pages].
5. Documentation: The report must include detail explanation of the case study, text should be
12 font size, left justified, with sufficient left and right margin
6. Resources: Provide a list of references visited during project in the report
7. Submission: Submit your assignment in a specified format.
8. Evaluation Criteria: Your assignment will be evaluated based on the depth of exploration
of the tools, the clarity of the cases created, report quality, and presentation or exam.
9. Deadline: The deadline for submitting your assignment is on final exam date [Oct 29-2024].
Late submissions may incur penalties as per the course policy.
