INTRODUCTION

In today’s fast-paced and demanding work environment, achieving a harmonies


work-life balance has become a crucial aspect of employee well-being and
organizational success. This project aims to explore work-life balance of
employees at Paalana Institute of Medical Science palakkad, A leading
healthcare institution. By examining the interplay between professional
responsibilities and personal life, this study seeks to understand the challenges
and strategies associated with maintaining equilibrium in a high-stress industry.
Through a comprehensive analysis of employee experiences and institutional
practice, the project will provide insights into how paalana hospital supports its
workforce in managing work-life balance and offer recommendations for
enhancing overall jobs satisfaction and productivity.

In contemporary work environments, achieving an effective balance between


professional responsibilities and personal life has become a crucial factor
influencing employee well-being and organizational productivity. This balance,
known as work-life balance, is especially significant in high-demand fields such
as healthcare, where employees often face rigorous schedules and intense
pressures. This project focuses on the work-life balance of employees at Paalana
Institute of medical science palakkad, an esteemed institution in the healthcare
sector known for its comprehensive medical services and patient care.

Understanding the work-life balance of Paalana Hospital’s employees is


essential for identifying potential areas for improvement and developing
strategies to enhance their overall well-being. By examining the specific issues
faced by these healthcare professionals, the study aims to provide insights that
could lead to more supportive work environments and better employee
satisfaction. This introduction sets the stage for a comprehensive analysis of
how Paalana Hospital addresses these challenges and the implications for its
workforce.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To evaluate the current work-life balance practices at paalana hospital


Assess existing policies and practices that impact employees work-life
balance.
 To identify challenges faced by employees in achieving work-life balance
and also to Understand the specific difficulties employees encounter in
managing their professional and personal lives.
 To examine the impact of work-life balance affects job satisfaction,
performance, and overall productivity.
 To study the impact of work schedule and also it asses how different work
schedules such as (shifts, On-call duties) which affect the employees
work life balance and overall satisfaction.
 To provide recommendations for improving work-life balance and also to
suggest actionable strategies and improvements based on finding to
enhance work-life balance at paalana hospital.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of the study mainly focuses on Enhanced Employee


Well-being and also improving work-life balance can lead to better
mental and physical health among employees. It focuses on reducing
burnout and stress levels, which are prevalent in the healthcare sector.
Which also helps in Increased Job Satisfaction By addressing factors that
affect work-life balance, the study aims to improve overall job
satisfaction, which can enhance employee retention and reduce turnover
rates. Which will mainly focuses to improve productivity a well-balanced
work-life environment is often linked to increased job performance and
productivity. This will be lead to Optimized Workforce Management
Insights from this study on work life balance at Palana Hospital in
developing policies and practices that support a healthier work
environment, thereby improving workforce management and operational
effectiveness. This also helps in attraction and retention of talent With
competitive job markets, hospitals need to offer attractive work-life
balance benefits to recruit and retain top talent and it also helps in
boosting overall productivity where employees are likely to be more
productive, leading to better performance outcomes and potentially lower
absenteeism and turnover rates.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study is conducted in paalana institute of medical science palakkad, the aim
of the study is to measure the work life balance of employees and also to
understand how well employees are managing their professional responsibilities
alongside their personal life. the study also measures and it identify the key
factors influencing work life balance such as work load, flexibility, support
system, and employee well being and productivity. in ordered to carried out
effective smooth running of employees work life balance at paalana hospital.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Investigating a specific problem or question to generate new knowledge or


validate existing theories. It involves identifying objectives, formulating
hypotheses, and employing various methods to collect and analyze data. The
goal of research is to provide insights that contribute to a deeper understanding
of the subject matter and inform decisions or practices.

Methodology serves as the blueprint for the research process, detailing the
specific procedures and techniques used to conduct the study. It defines the
research design, including how data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted.
Methodology ensures that the research is conducted in a structured, systematic
manner, enhancing the reliability and validity of the findings. By outlining the
approach, sampling methods, and analytical strategies, methodology provides
clarity on how research objectives will be achieved and how results will be
derived and assessed.

RESEARCH DESIGN

A research design is the set of methods and procedures used in collecting and
analysing measures of the variables specified in the problem research. This
study is a descriptive research design to systematically describe the current state
of work-life balance among employees at Paalana Hospital. The aim is to
capture and detail the existing conditions, perceptions, and challenges related to
work-life balance. In this project a sincere effort has been made to study the
work life balance of employees. During the study, I study work life balance of
employees in paalana hospital.

SOURCES OF DATA

Data sources can include data that are already collected and data that will be
collected during the study. Sources of data are of two types: primary and
secondary data

Primary data is a type of information that is obtained directly from first-hand


source through interviews, questionnaire or observations.

Secondary data is the data collected by someone other than the actual user. It
means that the information is already available, and someone analyses it. The
secondary data includes magazines, books, journals, etc. It may be either
published data or unpublished data.

This proposed data is based on primary data .the data has been compiled from
the questionnaire, observations and interviews.

POPULATION AND SAMPLING


The population for this study consists of all employees working at Paalana
Hospital. This includes a diverse group of individuals from various departments
and roles, such as clinical staff (doctors, nurses, and technicians) and non-
clinical staff (administrative, support, and maintenance personnel). The total
population is approximately 200 employees.

To ensure the sample is representative of the entire employee population, a


simple random of 100 employees from the total population of 200 but only 60
employees responded. Random sampling helps in minimizing bias and ensures
that every employee has an equal chance of being included in the study.

SAMPLE SIZE

The sample size for this study will be 60 employees. This number is chosen to
balance the need for detailed insights with practical constraints such as time and
resources. A sample size of 60 is sufficient to capture a range of perspectives
while providing manageable data for analysis

TOOLS FOR ANALYSIIS

The tools used for analysis;

1) Questionnaire
Questionnaire is an important tool for analysis where set of printed or
written questions with a choice of answers are given to employees which
will help to collect the data’s of work life balance.
2) Percentage method
The percentage method is tool used to analyze the work life balance of
employee’s data by converting it into percentages.
3) Statistical method
Statistical method uses the descriptive statistics such as mean, median,
mode to collect the data’s of employees.
4) Graphical methods
Graphical method is a tool for analysis using visual representations, such
as graphs to analyze and present data.
5) Pie diagram
Pie diagram is an important method of tool for analysis data where data
are represented in circular graphical representation.
