Smart Pattern Globe

Quick Guide
Import the file into your project.
Drag & drop the globe pattern comps into your project timeline.
Inside the comps, customize pattern settings and edit layers for preferred style.
The rotating globe animation is already looped in DEMO comp and ready to use.

Size: 250, 500, 1000 & 2000 Pixels

01 Importing File 2

Implementation simply requires importing single AEP file. The download package comes with AE Projects file
(.aep) saved in CS5. Should open in any versions of CS5+

There 4 files available for different dimension of comps. The smaller size means faster rendering and bigger size
means size/scale benefits. So choose the file based on your project needs:

• 01 SmartPattern Globe - 250 Pixel


• 02 SmartPattern Globe - 500 Pixel
• 03 SmartPattern Globe - 1000 Pixel
• 04 SmartPattern Globe - 2000 Pixel

Pick the required version that suits your project and import the file in AE. Import option can be found on menu
File > Import > File...

After importing, you should be able to see the following assets in the Project panel:

• The first 3 comps are the pattern


globe comps to be utilized.
• The folder named “Smart Pattern
Map Assets“ contain commonly
used assets. Do not delete.

After Importing the Smart Pattern file into your project, in the
project panel, find the composition named DEMO. Open that
DEMO comp.

Inside this comp, all the 3 style pattern layers available with
Time Remapping enabled and expression of loopOut()
already added. You may just copy/paste those layers in your
required project timeline. After pasting the layer, you can just
extend the outpoint of layer to increase the duration and loop
cycles.

03 Usage & Looping 4

In the Project panel, the following 3 comps are represents 3 styles Grid, Line and Dot pattern . Just drag and
drop one or more comps into your Project timeline as shown below. Now the timeline will have the icon with
animation length of 10 seconds.

After placing the comp on timeline, animation can be looped with any standard looping technic you prefer. For
your convenience, already looped layers also included within this file (Please read previous section for further
details).

Looping the Animation

1. Right - Click the layer.

2. In the context menu, Click the 1


Time > Enable Time Remapping

clicking on it.

4. Go to top menu and under the


Animation menu, click Add Expression

On the timeline, type loopOut() as 4


showed here.

5. Now, the layer is ready for


continuous looping. Extend the end 5
point of layer by dragging its edge
towards right side to increase the
duration and number of loops.

For Grid, Line and Dot pattern, separate settings are available inside the respective comps.

GRID Pattern Settings


To adjust grid pattern settings, open the comp named 01 Globe Grid. Inside this comp, find the layer named
Settings. Open the effects, then it will show the following options:

GRID SPACE
Adjust this effect property to change spacing between
grid pattern lines.

GRID THICKNESS
This is the line thickness or stroke size of grid.

GRID COLOR
Color of grid lines.

BORDER THICKNESS
This is line thickness of the map outline. By default
border hidden due to 0 value. This option is available
only for Grid pattern.

BORDER COLOR
Color of map outline border.

LINE Pattern Settings


To adjust line pattern settings, open the comp named 02 Globe Line. Inside this comp, find the layer named
Settings. Open the effects, then it will show the following options:

LINE SPACE
Adjust this effect property to change spacing between
pattern lines.

LINE THICKNESS
This is the line thickness or stroke size of pattern.

LINE COLOR
Color of pattern lines.

LINE ANGLE
The pattern lines can be rotated to desired angle by
adjusting this value. If the value is 0, the lines will be
horizontal. If the value is 90 it will be vertical.

DOT Pattern Settings
To adjust dot pattern settings, open the comp named 03 Globe Dot. Inside this comp, find the layer named
Settings. Open the effects, then it will show the following options:

Dot SPACE
Adjust this effect property to change spacing between
dots.
DOT SIZE
Diameter or side length of dots

DOT COLOR
Color of pattern dots.

DOT SQUARE
The default shape of dot is circle. This can be made to
square by enabling this option.
