Firewall con昀椀guration, antivirus/internet security loading
and con昀椀guration procedure

Step 1: Secure your firewall

If an attacker is able to gain administrative access to your firewall it

is “game over”

Step 2: Architect your firewall zones and IP addresses

In order to protect the valuable assets on your network, you should

first identify what the assets are (for example, payment card data
or patient data). Then plan out your network structure so that
these assets can be grouped together and placed into networks (or
zones) based on similar sensitivity level and function.

Step 3: Configure access control lists

Now that you have established your network zones and assigned
them to interfaces, you should determine exactly which traffic
needs to be able to flow into and out of each zone.

Make sure to disable all unencrypted protocols for firewall

management, including Telnet and HTTP connections.

Step 4: Configure your other firewall services and logging

Step 5: Test your firewall configuration

Multiple Operating Systems Loading And
Troubleshooting

Installing Multiple Operating Systems:

1. Create a Bootable USB/DVD:

Obtain installation media for each operating system you
want to install and create bootable USB drives or DVDs.

2. Allocate Disk Space:

Use your computer's disk management tools to allocate
separate partitions for each operating system. Ensure
there is enough space for each OS.

3. Install Operating Systems:

• Install each operating system on its designated partition.

Follow the installation prompts, create user accounts,
and configure settings.

4. Install Boot Loader:

• The last OS installed usually installs a boot loader (such

as GRUB for Linux or the Windows Boot Manager). This
software allows you to choose the operating system at
startup.

5. Configure Boot Order:

• In the computer's BIOS/UEFI settings, configure the boot

order to prioritize the drive where the boot loader is
installed.

Troubleshooting Multiple Operating Systems:

1. Boot Loader Issues:

• If the boot loader doesn't recognize all installed operating

systems:

lOMoARcPSD|47712742

• Use installation media to repair or reinstall the boot

loader.

• Update the boot loader configuration to include all OS

entries.

2. Partitioning Issues:

• If there are issues with partitioning:

• Use a partition management tool to resize or adjust

partition sizes.

• Ensure that each operating system has its own partition

and doesn't interfere with others.

3. Operating System Not Booting:

• If one OS fails to boot:

• Boot into another working OS and check the partition of

the problematic OS.

38

Downloaded by Vinod Kumar ([email protected])

lOMoARcPSD|47712742

• Repair the boot sector using installation media or

recovery tools.

4. UEFI/BIOS Compatibility:

• If UEFI/BIOS compatibility issues arise:

• Ensure that all installed operating systems are

compatible with the system's firmware.

• Check if the system is set to UEFI or Legacy mode, and

install operating systems accordingly.

5. Data Loss or Corruption:

• If data loss or corruption occurs:
