Ingesas IC3 Communication Unit

Unit that allows the connection with


Telecontrol Central Centers of the
Protection and Control Integrated
System, and that executes its general
logics.

Functionality

It is a high-performance modular system, though for substations with a great reliability and
availability, which allows including different modules for the signal acquisition, signaling,
etc…, with the possibility of power supply redundancy.
The functions it carries out are:

It collects all the information of the substation (alarms, states, measurements, counters),
and sends it to the Telecontrol Central Center

It receives the commands and the consignes from the substation Central Center and sends
them to the corresponding IED's

It communicates with the Telecontrol Central Center in the selected protocol and allows
redundant communication channels

It allows the simultaneous connection of up to 4 independent Telecontrol Central Centers

It communicates via RS232C and/or Ethernet to the Telecommand Central Centers through
simple or redundant channels (IEC61870-5-101/104, DNP3.0 protocols)

It is a IEC61850 customer and it collects the information previously selected from the
different IEDF's

It communicates via Ethernet with the IED's and allow redundant communication
architectures

It allows the time synchronization through IRIG-B, SNTP or from the Telecontrol Central
Center

It may act as synchronization standard of all the IED's through SNTP protocol

It executes the substation centralized logics that affect several IED's

The logic programming is carried out through IEC61131-3 and its SFC-LD-FBD graphic
languages and ST textual language

It has Boolean, Arithmetic functions, Comparators and IF-THEN-ELSE sentences

It is a IEC61850 server for the logic results.

It has communication statistical data towards the IED's and the Telecommand.

The information sent to each Telecontrol Station is configurable by the


user,and it is only sent the required information.

It is adaptable for different Telecontrol


protocols (i.e. IEC 61870-5-101/104 or
DNP3.0)

The logics programmation is made through


tools that work with IEC 61131-3 protocol.

It allows different types of redundancies that


improve the global availability of the whole system (Power
supply, communications)

A very easy expandable Data Base, that allows to add new IED´s to the
System in an easy and quick way.

Modular construction that allows different types of extensions (DI, DO,


communications)

It reduces the Ingeneering, commissioning and maintenance costs by


using very powerfull configuration tools
