Use a 3rd party tool (e.g., Rufus) to flash the LEAFOS software to create a bootable USB stick.
Note: LEAFOS can also be flashed to the hard disk of your PC or laptop. This approach wipes out
any previously installed OS.
If the current OS on your PC or laptop is loaded then you will need to configure your computer
so that it boots to the LEAFOS USB Stick.
You can quickly change the boot sequence of your computer. Alternatively, you can access the
BIOS of your computer to permanently change the boot sequence.
Please review LEAFOS Live Boot Quick Start Guide starting on page 3, section LEAFOS LIVE BOOT
FROM USB FLASH DRIVE for more details.
Note: The LEAFOS image is provided in a compressed format. The first time boot sequence
includes a process that decompresses the image. The only occurs during the first time boot.
Depending on your PC or laptop it may take up to 2 minutes to complete the decompression
step. During this time you will see a blank screen. Please wait until the decompression has
completed.
Note: If there is no USB stick in your USB port then your PC or laptop will boot to the hard drive
for normal operation.
To enable WiFi connectivity hover over the WiFi icon found at the top of the LEAFOS UI then click
Configure…
Select the appropriate connection options and click the APPLY button.
If you clicked on WiFi then select your WiFi SSID name from the Network Name dropdown then click Edit
WiFi to enter connection credentials.
When LEAFOS boots it detects if it has already been activated. If it has not been activated you will see
the following UI prompt:
Enter the License Key provided to you by NComputing and click the Activate button.
Note: You must activate LEAFOS to connect to Microsoft AVD, Cloud PC and RDS. Activation also unlocks
access to locally installed applications such as the Chromium browser, Teams and Zoom.
You can open the Settings UI at any time by clicking on the gear icon in the top right of the LEAFOS UI:
The gear icon opens the Settings UI preset to the General tab as shown above.
Note: The SUBNET TAG shown in the above screenshot can be very useful for automatically assigning
devices to PMC groups. Please reference How to use ‘Subnet Tags’ to assign devices to groups in PMC for
more details.
This displays important information about your LEAFOS software including the unique serial number,
registration status, networking details and version number.
This helps to prevent accidental changes to settings that may affect the functionality of LEAFOS.
Click the “Password protection of device settings” checkbox and enter the desired password.
After clicking the APPLY button then access to the checked sections will require the password that you
defined.
Select your VPN type and enter the information provided by your IT admin.
You can configure USB peripheral support by clicking on the Peripherals menu option:
The default setting is the most optimized configuration. If there are some special peripheral devices
which can’t be recognized in LEAFOS, then you customize the peripheral redirection setting.
Click the Local Applications menu option to access the configuration options for these local applications:
Your IT admin should provide you with the preferred REMOTE DEVICE MANAGEMENT SETTINGS option
and PMC address.
The benefit is faster booting and performance and eliminates the need to carry the USB stick with you.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Performing this action will erase all content on the hard drive of your PC or laptop.
LEAFOS will be installed as the OS of the PC or laptop.
To start the hard drive installation, click on the Installation menu option:
Then click on the Install button shown above. You will be prompted to confirm the action before
proceeding.
• VPN
• NComputing’s vSpace Pro Software
• NComputing’s VERDE VDI Software
• Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
• Microsoft’s Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) (formerly known as WVD)
• Microsoft’s Cloud PC (use AVD)
Use the Device Operation Mode found in the General settings tab to select your desired connection
mode option:
This allows you to connect to a session hosted by NComputing’s vSpace Pro software.
After successful authentication, depending on how your IT admin has setup VERDE VDI, you will be
automatically connected to your VERDE VDI desktop or presented with a list of provisioned VERDE VDI
desktops.
Select the Device Operation Mode to AVD Client. LEAFOS will use the Azure Virtual Desktop I login UI:
You then can select from the resources assigned to you by your IT admin.
