E- Line launch Uniwide Press Conference 2022

With the theme "From newsroom to fingertips: Gearing up to the challenges of


Community Journalism" Earthline conducts University Wide Press Conference at
Kalinga State University Main Campus on November 9-11, 2022.

Amidst the two year pandemic, E-line was able to precede the third University
Wide Press Conference. The said contest is not only to select new staffs but also to
enhance the skill of the students who attended the conference. The event was
composed of different category such as Feature Writing discussed by Sir Darwin
Serrion, News Writing facilitated and discussed by Ma’am Lryll Sicnao, Opinion Writing
by Sir Johnrick Pacas, Comics Strip by Sir Kevin Manganip. Sports Writing by Sir
Jayson Aduca, Page Layouting and Photography by Sir Meynard Pacleba, Editorial
Writing, Copy Reading and Headline Writing by ma’am Geraldine Gacuya. Also, Poetry
Writing by Ma’am Leonora Lo-oy, Literary Graphics and Editorial Cartooning by Sir
Israel Balagso, Devcom Writing by Sir Jhuman Kevin Tindo, and the Radio
Broadcasting by Ma'am Hazel Gup- ay and Sir Redentor Retotal.

Every after discussion, the participants are expected to make their own write up
in two different categories, English and Filipino. After the event, the winners were
proclaimed and recognized accordingly from top 5 to top 1.

The results are as follows: Feature Writing Mr. Joren Reyes got the 5th place,
Charlotte Leyaley 4th place, Xin-ziyi Gup-ay 3rd place, Shiloah Glaith Lugao 2nd place,
and Arrianne Kate Gagelonia 1st place (English category); while on the Filipino category,
Ms. Danica Paje 5th place, Glend Jamaica Deocares 4th place, Kaycee Claire Kinao 3rd
place, Lester John Palattao 2nd place, and Janie Claire Wansi 1st place; In News Writing,
Ms. Lea Mae Alcanzarin 5th place, Jonalyn Saguilot 4th place, Judylyn Viernes 3rd place,
Lerma Jane Nalliw 2nd place, and Justine Capito 1st place (Filipino Category); while Ms.
Rhienz Khate Gausin 5th place, Lerma Jane Nalliw 4th place, Xin –ziyi Gup-ay 3rd place,
Shiloah Glaith Lugao 2nd place, and Charlotte Gail Leyaley 1st place (English category).

Moreover, in Photography Ms. Jeanny Kiley got the 5th place, Mr. Jovinvent Celis
4th place, Jonalyn Saguilot 3rd place, Jezelle Daus 2nd place, and Mr. Irshad Odeste 1st
place. In the category of Page Layouting, Ms. Joana Gaddawan got the 4th place, Gil del
Rosario 3rd place, Junabel Gumacas 2nd place, and Mr. Rhonie Cambia 1st place. In
Sports Writing English category, Mr. Kennie Ysmael got the 4th place, Irish Madarang 3rd
place, Joren Reyes 2nd place, and Jhun Miguel Bas-ilen 1st place. While on the Filipino
category, Ms. Leonalyn Serquina 5th place, Carl John Mora 4th place, Amirah Diragen 3rd
place, Don Alfred Viloria 2nd place, and Justine Capito 1st place. In Copy Reading and
Headline Writing English category, Ms. Sharon Wandaga 5th place, Bethel Casey
Alunday 4th place, Hyacinth Lardizabal 3rd place, Jerica Medrano 2nd place, and Mary
Joy Agtarap 1st place.Meanwhile in Devcom writing Ms. Myrell Galamto got the 5th
place, France Cedric Diaz 4th place, Alfanesa Sa-ot 3rd place, Hyacinth Mae Lardizabal
2nd place, and Claire Alimurung 1st place. In Opinion Writing English category, Ms. Nicoll
Wallang got the 5th place, Ma Lorena Omli 4th place, Lerma Jane Nalliw 3rd place, Xin-
Ziyi Gup -ay 2nd place, and Ivy Rhea Baggay 1st place while in Filipino category, Bethel
Casey Alunday got the 5th place, Rachel Angela Baday 4th place, Lester John Palattao
3rd place, and Mirasol Canabang 2nd place, and Don Alfred Viloria 1st place. In Editorial
Writin English category, Ma Lorena Omli got the 5th place, Rhienz Kate Gausin 4th place,
Shiloah Glaith Lugao 3rd place, Nicoll Wallang 2nd place, and Lerma Jane Nalliw 1st
place. While in Filipino category, Ms. Jonalyn Saguilot got the 5th place, May ann Baway
4th place, Danica Paje 3rd place, Lester John Palattao 2nd place, and Amirah Diragen 1st
place.

Lastly, in Literary Graphics Illustration contest, Mr. John Alunday got the 5 th
place, Clair Amla Penie Mar Lapada 3rd place, Emmanuel Quilicol 2nd place, and Jay
mark Salingbay 1st place. While in Editorial Cartooning, Mr. Joshua Juan got the 5th
place, Derrick Kurt Allawi 4th place, Clair Amla 3rd place, Emmanuel Quilicol 2nd place,
and John Alunday 1st place. In Comics Strips English category, Mr. John Alunday got
the 2nd place, and Derrick Kurt Allawi 1st place. While in Filipino Category, Rhienz khate
Gausin got the 5th place, Michelle Gaddao 4th place, John Alunday 3rd place, Joshua
Juan 2nd place, and Jay Mark Salingbay 1st place. In Broadcasting Category, KNN
Philippines 4th place, Tangguyub Ti Amianan 3rd place, The Voice of the Nation 2nd
place, and The Heritage 1st place.

The three days Wide Press Conference is a stepping stone to recruit new staffs
for Earthline Pubication. The top three winners were automatically considered as
members of the said publication. Amidst the hardships in preparing and facilitating the
event, the conference ended successfully.
