ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
● Online Subscriptions
• Library Orientation
In 2023, the library started to recognize the top book borrowers of the
library by giving certificates and tokens to the students and faculty
members. Recognizing top book borrowers serves as positive
reinforcement for reading habits. It encourages individuals to engage with
the library's collection, explore diverse genres, and develop a love for
reading. This program creates as well awareness about the available
library materials and motivates individuals to become regular patrons.
● Renovation of Libraries
With the full support of the administration, University Library and the
College of Education have successfully inaugurated the CED Learning
Commons on March 22, 2023. The Learning Commons was further
enhanced and modernized by Webcode Infrastructure and Turnkey
Solutions (WITS) by supplying furniture and fixtures which was completed
on September 23, 2023. The new space
● Funding Received
With the support of the administration, the total approved budget for
the University library for 2023 was P4,508,735 for GAA, Income and
Fiduciary. This budget was utilized for the procurement of books, online
subscriptions, traveling and training expenses, membership to
organization, office supplies, maintenance and other operations of the
library. The library has also requested additional funding amounting to
P2,338,050.00 for the procurement of computer units, CCTVs, and air
conditioners. This funding was approved on August 3, 2023 during the
263rd Finance BOR Meeting BOR Res No. 153, S. 2023. Below is the
breakdown of the budget received by the University Library in 2023.

● Personnel
Motivated library staff are essential for creating a positive and productive
work environment and providing excellent services to library users. For this
year, two (2) licensed librarians of University Library have successfully
completed their master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the
University of San Carlos. They are Ms. Aleah L. Marohomsalic, College of
Science and Mathematics (CSM) librarian and Ms. Norjina S. Bacug,
Technical Services Division (TSD) librarian and financial assistant. Also, two
(2) support staff earned eligibility. Ms. Josephine B. Samson of CSM Library
passed the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Examination and Ms. Rohaimah
D. Polao of CHS Library passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers
(LET).
The professional growth of library personnel is crucial for maintaining high-
quality library services, adapting to technological advancements, and meeting
the evolving needs of library users.
● Professional Development
The congress was attended by the librarians from all over the
Philippines to celebrate the PLAI 100 year’s celebration. Some of the highlight
objectives of the congress were to 1.) raise awareness about the importance
of preserving and promoting cultural heritage within library services; 2.)
explore innovative strategies and best practices for preserving and
showcasing cultural heritage materials in libraries; 3 foster collaborations and
partnerships between libraries, cultural institutions, and local communities to
effectively preserve and promote heritage resources; and 4.) explore the
integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality,
and blockchain in library practices.
