Case Details

On August 7th 2024, Billionaire businessman and CEO of Gapple Tech pvt. ltd. Husain Jafri
held a huge birthday party at his manor in Bahawalpur, inviting everyone he knew. However, as
the celebrations for his 50th birthday began, Husain Jafri was nowhere to be found in the Manor.
When people began looking for him there was a 10 minute blackout all over the manor and the
power outage was fixed after that time. His manager, Jayant Khan, and his secretary, Saba
Ahmed, who were at the party went searching for him, and eventually, his body was found
mounted on the huge marbled fountain at 9:52pm. As soon as he was found, Saba Ahmed
contacted the police and the gates to the manor were locked leaving all guests trapped there.
There was a message in red inscription scrawled onto the base of the fountain, ‘The Devil is
DEAD’.

The forensic team which arrived at 10:02pm, analyzed the red inscription and found it to be
written using MAC Cosmetics red lipstick in shade ‘ruby woo’. After a search was conducted on
all guests, Sameeha Khan was found to be in possession of such a lipstick. The lipstick was
completely ruined as if it was used to write something. Police immediately arrested Sameeha
Khan without a warrant stating that she had murdered Husain Jafri.

Jayant Khan and Saba Ahmed had handled all the preparations for the birthday party. Jayant
sent out custom made invitations to all the guests which included Husains ex-wife Sameeha
Khan who was present during the party. Saba was in charge of the lighting and sound systems,
before the power outage many eye-witnesses saw her going to the manor garage which had the
switches to the main power supply to the house.

At 6:48pm, when Husain was getting ready for the party, Jayant Khan was seen carrying large
boxes into his dressing room. The contents of these boxes are currently unknown and they have
since not been found. Jayant Khan maintains that they were unremarkable boxes of extra
packing peanuts that he needed to put somewhere out of sight and Husain Jafri had given him
permission to use the dressing room. However, in the servant’s kitchen dustbin, a receipt was
found for 3 large bouquets of peace lilies and blue hydrangeas, and nearby used pots had
traces of hydrangea leaves on the rims.

At 10:32pm, Ayesha Jafri arrived at Grammar Police Station and lodged a formal FIR against
Sameeha Khan stating that she killed Husain Jafri out of pure jealousy and to take revenge
against him. After the events of the party, Sameeha spent 2 nights in jail, after which she was
put under house arrest before her formal trial in court. However, Sameeha Khan has now filed a
case against the State for her arrest without a warrant and wrongful imprisonment.

Witness Backgrounds:

1. Jayant Khan:

Age: 33, Occupation: Hasan Jafri’s manager

Jayant Khan is the manager of Mr. Jafri. He has been with the company for a while, and was
considered a loyal employee of the billionaire. Therefore, Mr. Jafri started inviting him to his
family events and made him feel included. Jayant is in his 30s, very ambitious, and wants a
higher role in the company. He says that all he does is due to his loyalty to Mr. Jafri, but people
have noted otherwise. Jayant comes across as a thriving executive manager, but he is indeed
from a middle class background. He worked his way up, and his ambition is very evident. He
would do anything it takes to climb up the corporate ladder.

2. Ayesha Jafri:

Age: 37, Occupation: Housewife

Ayesha Jafri is the second wife of Mr. Jafri. She is very pretty but dotes very much on her
husband. She comes from a small town and grew up without any parents, which is why she
feels comfort in the life she has built for herself using Husain’s money. However, she often
complains about how she was unable to have any children of her own and Husain Jafri’s only
heir to the business is Naila, who is Sameeha’s daughter. She has always tried to win over
Naila’s affection but does not care for her truly. Ayesha has always followed one motto in life,
“You must always step up in life becauuse if you take a step down then you will fall”

Saba Ahmed:

Age: 26, Occupation: Husain Jafri’s Secretary

Saba Ahmed is Mr. Jafri’s loyal and hardworking secretary. She grew up in a middle-class family
in the city, where her parents taught her the importance of education and hard work. Saba did
very well in school and graduated with top honours in business administration. She is known for
being very organised and good at her job, which made her a key part of Jafri Enterprises. Even
with her success, Saba stays humble and friendly, always ready to help her coworkers. She is
kind and honest, often going out of her way to support others. Mr. Jafri admired Saba’s qualities
and became fond of her over time. He respected her intelligence and dedication, and they
developed a close bond. Saba hence knew all about the ins and outs of Mr Husains life. She
manages all his business dealings, calls and financial transactions. It was Saba who managed
Mr Husain’s separation from Ms. Sameeha.

3. Aslam Masood:

Age: 50, Occupation: Forensic Analyst/Doctor

Aslam Masood is the forensic doctor who examined the evidence in Husain Jafri's case. He
arrived at the scene of the crime at approximately 10:00pm. He found that the body had been
dead for more than 1 hour and the main cause of death was not the multiple stab wounds in his
abdomen. After conducting a blood sample test he found there to be high levels of cyanide in
the blood which led him to conclude that perhaps Mr Husain died due to cyanide poisoning but
was then stabbed multiple times before being mounted on the fountain.
4. Sameeha Khan:

Age: 43, Occupation: Retired Model

Mrs. Sameeha Khan was the first love of Husain Jafri, was a rising model, with Mr Jafri’s
support, she rose to the top of her modelling career, climbing each golden rung. According to
her daughter Naila, in the 14 years Jafri and Khan were married, she loved him very much but
also needed him to land all the jobs she auditioned for. Sameeha always felt that if it wasnt for
Saba interfering in her relationship with Husain, he would have never sought seperation from
her. Sameeha recieved a monthly payment from Husain every month using which she ran her
modest household, both parents shared custody over Naila but Naila spent more time at the
Jafri Manor than at Sameeha’s apartment. Sameeha always felt that Ayesha used gifts and trips
to manipulate Naila into missing out on her weekly visits to Sameeha’s place. Sameeha greatly
worried for Naila’s welfare however she always held resentment against Husain, Saba and
Ayesha for breaking her family and ruining her career.

5. Naila Jafri:

Age: 22, Occupation: Student of KGS University

A sweet and soft spoken young woman, Naila Jafri is the pinnacle of wealth and luxury. Despite
her extravagant upbringing, she has learnt to make her presence smaller so that she does not
come in her parent’s way. Opting to stay with Husain Jafri more than Sameeha in the custody
courts, she cares a lot for her father and only wishes well for him. While she has always loved
her mother Naila sometimes felt that her career came before her daughter. She tried to get that
maternal love from Ayesha Jafri who showered her with presents. She would never do anything
to endanger her parents, choosing instead to side with them in any case scenario, causing her
to develop quiet and shy. Naila Jafri spends most of her days painting scenes from her father’s
favourite books and with her friends.

Exhibit 1.1

I am Sameeha Khan, giving an official statement for the Grammar Police Station. I did join the
festivities at Husain’s manor to celebrate his birthday and I reached around 6:30pm. I don’t
know why that’s so wrong of me? I was sent an invite in the mail, and I had no bad blood with
Husain and Naila had just come back from America, so I wanted to see her. Anyways, we were
waiting for Husain to come out so we could begin the celebration, and I wanted to talk to him
about Naila’s new university when the lights all shut off and people started causing chaos by
screaming. I was in the dining room talking to guests one moment, and the other, it was all dark
and everyone was shoving and pushing. When they finally came back on, I heard Husain’s new
woman scream. At first I thought she was blindly making a chaos like she’s prone to do, but
Aslam quickly went to her and yelled too, so I resigned myself to see her face. They were in the
garden, and the scene there… well. You all know better than me how gruesome it was. Nobody
was moving except Ayesha, who was hysterically sobbing on the ground, hiding her face from
everyone. Right after that, that incompetent lady threw me under the bus to the police and got
me thrown in jail without a WARRANT! What level of unprofessionalism is this, to take an
innocent bystander on nobody’s word except a grieving hysterical young lady, and lock her in a
cell. You will definitely be hearing from me. You may be intent on making me your murderer but
mark my words, Ayesha, I am not someone to be underestimated. I have nothing to gain from
Husain’s death, don’t I? Whatever happened, you need to find that Jayant Khan and Saba, they
were against me from the start, they were the ones who ruined my marriage. It is them who
killed Husain for financial gain.

END OF STATEMENT

Exhibit 1.2: AUTOPSY REPORT

Exhibit 1.3: Forensic Analysis of the Autopsy
External Examination:

Body presented in moderate rigour mortis, suggesting death occurred approximately 3 hours
prior to the autopsy. Carpet fibres traced under fingernails, along with superficial abrasions on
the fingertips that are consistent with the friction burns caused by rugs. Multiple wounds on the
abdomen that appear to be the main cause of death at a superficial first assessment.

Injuries:
A total of 9 stab wounds were noted in the abdominal region. The stab wounds were
concentrated primarily in the lower abdomen, slightly skewed to the left. The blood spatter
pattern in the study indicates that Mr. Jafri was standing or leaning slightly forward when he was
stabbed. Angling of the wounds suggests the assailant was positioned in a manner that forced
the weapon upward into the body, consistent with an attacker shorter than the victim. The lack of
defensive wounds suggests that he was taken by surprise and had little to no opportunity to
defend himself. The position of the body and the blood distribution also support the theory that
he collapsed almost immediately after being stabbed.

Weapon Used:

The murder weapon, a kitchen knife with a 6-inch blade, was found beneath a rug in the study
where Mr. Jafri's body was discovered. Forensic analysis confirmed that the knife was the
weapon used to inflict the fatal wound. The knife had been wiped clean of fingerprints, but
further examination revealed traces of blood matching Mr. Jafri's DNA.

Though the knife was wiped clean, previous fingerprints were recovered using advanced
forensic techniques. It was determined that multiple guests had handled the knife earlier in the
evening. The presence of multiple fingerprints complicated the process of identifying the
perpetrator through this evidence alone.

Toxicology:

Blood samples that were tested revealed amounts of cyanide in the blood. Upon closer
examination to the skin, cherry-red discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes was
observed, and gastric erosion in the stomach was evident. Thus leading to the conclusion that
there was an ingestion of cyanide for Husain Jafri.

Conclusion:
The current timeline of events cannot be determined as the stab wounds tore into stomach
lining and spilled a lot of blood and fluid onto the ground. Thus, there can be no accurate
conclusion as to the real cause of death.

Exhibit 1.7: Jayant Khan Statement

I am Jayant Khan, Mr Husain Jafri’s executive manager at Jafri Enterprises. I was at the
billionaire's birthday party managing all the decorations, invitations and guests while amr Jafri
got ready. As a gift for him I ordered boquets of hydrangeas and peace lillies. Which arrived an
hour before the party so I took them to Mr Jafri’s dressing room as a way to suprise him. The
flowers that I had ordered were on the advice of the sales manager at the flower shop. He told
me that for such a grand birthday, only hydrangeas and peace lillies make sense. Anyways,
after leaving the bouquets up, I left to go to the kitchen to fetch Mr Jafri his tea. However when I
went up to the dressing room he was nowhere to be seen, the flowers that I had kept were still
there. So I mixed his tea like how he always likes and left it on the dressing table next to his
closet. I made my way to the outer courtyard to greet guests when suddenly the lights went out.
I called Saba immediately and asked her what was happening, she herself did not know and at
that point I ran inside the manor to look for Mr Jafri, because who knows their house better than
the owner himself. After looking for him for a long while the lights came on and that is when I
found his body mounted to the fountain. The police were called and poor Miss Ayesha was
frantic with tears. I looked around and saw Ms. Sameeha who had a cruel smile on her face and
I was shocked. I immediately informed the authorities that it was Ms. Sameeha who killed her
ex-husband and when they searched her body they found that lipstick used to write on the
fountain!

Exhibit 1.9 : Testimony from Naila Jafri

Hello I am Naila Jafri, the Husain and Sameeha’: daughter, and my relationship with my dear
daddy was always so close. I could tell him anything, and he was always there for me. On the
evening of his birthday party, everything felt so tense. Everyone is blaming my poor old mom for
killing Husain but she could never do that knowing that he is my father and how such a betrayal
would leave me! During the party, I floated around welcoming guests and everyone, and then
stood by my mothers side the entire time. We talked and gossiped about Ayesha, Saba and
Jayant. When the lights went out I got so scared and clutched my moms bag for support. In the
middle of the blackout she told me she's gonna try and figure out what happened so she turned
her phone torch on and left. Most of the other guests did not have their phones on them since
such high profile parties usually require guests to leave their phones at the gate with security.
When the lights came back on I rushed to find my mom and then saw the gruesome scene. My
mom was clutching her face and gasping while Ayesha was sitting there next to his body crying
crocodile tears. Shortly after, Mr. Jayant started shouting at my mother for killing my dad and
that's when the authorities grabbed my mom and loaded her into their van for killing my poor
dad. I rushed out of the manor behind my mom and then had the driver rush me to the police
station where I tried to call in my contacts but nobody was willing to help. She was then put
under house arrest and even throughout that time I was the one who helped her. The very day
next day after my dad had died, Ayesha instead of mourning her husband had took off with
Jayant to the Gapple Tech Head office to get some “legal documents”

Exhibit 2.0: Saba Ahmed’s Statement:

I need to tell you what I saw that night, it was just so horrible. I'm Saba, Mr. Jafri’s secretary, and
things in the Jafri family have been really tense lately. During the party, I felt the lights flickering
so as any secretary would do, I went to check the electrical box. As soon as I went inside the
garage there was a blackout and I could not see anything. I tried turning my torch on but at that
exact moment my phone died. I ran outside of the garage looking for help and then rushed to
the kitchen, where I found a torch and knife to pry open the electrical box. Once I opened the
electrical box the lights came on and I heard screams outside. I have always felt protective of
my Husain so I rushed out to the outer courtyard and found him dead in a pool of blood with
stab wounds. I was shocked to my core. I couldn't see straight, there were tears in my eyes. At
that moment I saw Ayesha with her crocodile tears, all I have ever seen her do is worry about
money and shopping, her fake concern was completely visible to me. And that Sameeha, thank
god I saved Husain from that power hungry models clutches she was just standing there with a
crooked smile. I was so glad that the police caught her and took her to the station.
