The Problem and Its Background

Introduction
The world has a different problem calamity, epidemics, and violence these
are examples of societal problems. The researcher determines how the victims recover
from this situation. Many years ago in the Philippines, violence was a relevant
conflict, especially to women by partner and husband that is called Domestic
Violence. According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority's 2022 National
Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), 17.5% of Filipino women between the
ages of 15 and 49 said they had been the victims of physical, sexual, or emotional
abuse at the hands of an intimate partner. 8,399 cases of physical violence, 1,791
cases of rape, and 1,505 occurrences of indecent behavior had been reported as of
2021

One in three Australian women will be abused physically, sexually, or

psychologically by a man they are dating or have lived with in the past (Carman,
2022). The government has a law to prevent women from violence, under R.A 9262,
which protects the wife, former wife, or dating relationship. According to the World
Health Organization (2020), domestic violence could result in severe mental,
psychological, sexual, and reproductive health problems that include sexually
transmitted infections unplanned pregnancies, and, in extreme cases death. There has
long been violence against women, years ago in multiple variations. Within the
Philippines, rules will be put in place to protect Women's rights and stop violence
against women (Bernarte et al, 2018). The victim's physical and emotional well-being
should have been improved by the assault. Managing domestic violence is difficult
since the majority of victims do not want their circumstances to improve.
Socialization is one tactic to help victims of domestic violence heal; another is
supervision, which attests to the victims' progress. Supporting factors are the facility

being used in the recovery process is adequate, the victim does not charge at all
during the recovery process.

The basis of this research is the Standpoint theory, created by Sandra Harding
and Nancy Hartsock, focusing on gender perceptions that emphasize feminist
viewpoints. According to this idea, a person's views can be influenced by various
things, including their own experiences, customs and culture, social and economic
standing, and fundamental gender differences. Women are viewed as a disadvantaged
group of individuals who adopt and accept the views of dominant groups that alter
their perspectives. Individual viewpoints can differ, yet they can resemble one another
when people have similar interests and surroundings. As a result, the researchers
selected experts' perspectives on the topic. Their perspective is important to illustrate
the level of violence against women in the Philippines (Bernarte et al, 2018).

Long-term recovery women have requirements that are quite different from
what they needed when they left, with long-term effects on their mental, physical,
financial, and social well-being (Carman, 2023). Hence, the journey of recovering
from domestic violence is one of the hardest parts but the satisfying part, is getting rid
of the physical and mental trauma. Realizing you don’t have to face every difficulty
that you get in domestic violence. They were waking up every morning not worrying
about getting hurt and not getting scolded. Every day you just need to focus on
recovering and not worrying about what will happen if you make a mistake,
recovering takes time. The researcher might ask for a survey, then the researcher
desires some factors to how the survivor recovered from domestic violence.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine how to recover from domestic violence

of live-in and married women relationship with violence to the abuser through the
following questions:

1. What kind of domestic violence that victims experience?

2. How does domestic violence affect the victim's life?

3. What coping strategies are used during the victim's recovery?

Scope and Delimitation

This research will focus on Recovering from Domestic Violence Live-in

and Married Women. This research is limited to five (5) victims of women who
experienced violence in barangay Gaya-Gaya, in the year 2024

Significance of the Study

The researcher thinks that the following groups of people will

benefit more from the data from this study:

Single women. This research provides awareness and the step-by-step process if the
woman has experienced this situation.

Psychological Providers. Enhanced Awareness and Intervention Psychological

providers gain awareness of domestic violence issues, enabling them to identify
survivors and offer appropriate support and services.

Community. It will benefit the communities in terms of understanding this problem

still existing, they will have a chance to build programs to help the victims.

Future Researcher. Future researchers can inspect the study as a basis and source of
relevant literature regarding topics the same as or related to this study.

Hypothesis

The researcher assumed the following premises to eliminate further

complications in the process of developing the research:
1. The male abuser is grouchy which will result in physical abuse to the women.

The female victim-survivors were repeatedly attacked physically,

psychologically, sexually, and economically as a result of the offenders' power and
influence over them. The victims suffered from life-altering emotional stress as a
result of these events, which negatively impacted their quality of life. Several coping
mechanisms were employed to recover their identities; one of the most crucial ones
was the bravery to inform the authorities about the abuse, which opened the door for
them to reconstruct and reconstruct their lives (WacnangDeponio, 2021). The

appointments, engaging in relaxing activities after the appointments (Reeves et al,

The most often mentioned tactic among the participants' coping mechanisms
is asking for help from their peer and family groups, as well as their professional
networks. Every individual taking part has at least one social assistance that enabled
them to deal with sexual assault, although the majority of the participants' support
came from relatives of theirs. They claim that positive remarks, physical cues, and

Foreign Literature

Domestic abuse is a significant issue in the UK and indeed worldwide.

The impacts on victim-survivors of domestic abuse are far-reaching including
increased risk of mental health illness; poorer physical health outcomes; and reduced
self-esteem and social skills. Despite this, there is limited understanding of what
supports victim-survivors in their long-term recovery from domestic abuse. This study
explores how a nature-based therapeutic program might be used to support the
recovery of victim-survivors of domestic abuse concerning their health, well-being,
and resilience. (Kirsty Shanks.,2023).
An article in The British Journal of Social Work explores the crucial
role that mothers and children can play in one another's healing from experiences of
domestic abuse. Survivors support one another's long-term healing, well-being, and
the process of regaining confidence and self-worth and understanding and
overcoming the psychological and behavioral effects of their prior experiences. Other
practitioners involved in aiding victims of domestic abuse, stress the need to identify
and cultivate these supportive ties in the recovery journey; and how battered mothers
and their children support each other in the process of healing (Katz, 2015).
Rebuilding each other self-esteem, and confidence and assisting one another to
understand the past and overcome behavioral impacts, victims require professional
support to begin recovering present and future, these are the effective ways how to
recover victims from violence (Emma Katz, 2015).
Recovery focuses on meeting the needs of victims due to the suffering
and losses experienced by victims of domestic violence. victims of domestic violence
are directed at restoring the victim's condition to its original state and the government
issued a special policy that regulates cooperation in the recovery of victims of
domestic violence, which is stated in Government Regulation No. 4 of 2006
concerning the implementation and cooperation of recovery for victims of domestic
violence. It was explained that the recovery of victims was all efforts to strengthen
victims of domestic violence to be more empowered, both physically and
psychologically. Therefore, the implementation of recovery includes all acts of

service and assistance to victims carried out by health workers, social workers,
companion volunteers, and/or spiritual guides. Based on this description, this article
aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the policy for the recovery of
victims of domestic violence. (Suchmasasi et al., 2021). Understanding recovery from
the survivor's perspective is important to ensure our research, policy, and practice are
survivors-centered and promote recovery for all survivors and toward describing
healing after domestic violence, revealing the importance of feeling safe, relating to
others, and reevaluating the self as elements of the domestic abuse synthesized
focused on healing and recovery especially, while others describe the lived experience
of survivors more generally (Sinko et al., 2022).

Local Studies

Often referred to as marital abuse, verbal, physical emotional, and

sexual abuse directed towards an individual is domestic violence. The abused victim’s
history of domestic violence was established. Domestic abuse can occur in any
gender, race, age, and sexual orientation. Victims of domestic abuse may experience
long-term physical and psychological problems for the victims, typically for females
and children. Cuts, bruises, concussions, fractures, internal injuries, and loss of
eyesight and hearing are examples of physical injuries. the victims of this abuse have
the right to receive recovery from the government and medical or health-related
organizations have the right to provide recovery support to the victims (Saputra,
2023). Domestic violence is prevalent not only in the Philippines but also in other
countries. The impact of domestic violence on victims can be extensive and severe.
Victims may experience physical injuries, emotional trauma, psychological disorders,
low self-esteem, social isolation, financial dependence, and long-term effects on their
overall well-being and quality of life. This is the way to how to recover a victim for
Domestic Violence. Listen without judgment: Allow the victim to share their
experiences without interrupting or passing judgment. Validate their feelings and let
them know that you believe them and support them. Provide emotional support:

Reassure the victim that the abuse is not their fault and that they deserve to be treated
with respect. Offer them a shoulder to lean on and be there to listen whenever they
need to talk, Help them access resources: Connect the victim with resources such as
domestic violence shelters, counseling services, legal aid, and support groups.
(Superable,2017).

Recovery for victims of domestic violence is regulated by Law No. 23

of 2004 concerning the elimination of domestic violence. For recovery, victims can
obtain services from health. They organize recovery victims of health services, victim
assistance, counseling, spiritual guidance, and resocialization. These regulations focus
on prevention, protection, and recovery for victims of domestic violence. The
prevalence of intimate partner violence has been connected to several mental health
problems. Results indicate that when psychosocial interventions are implemented
with a holistic approach and offer trauma-informed care, they can have the biggest
positive effects on the mental health of women who have experienced intimate partner
violence. Numerous psychosocial interventions have been created to aid in the healing
of female intimate partner violence survivors; nevertheless, their exact mechanisms of
action remain unclear (Paphitis et al., 2022).

Learn how abuse survivors who are women have gained the confidence to act
for social change and support others! This unique book investigates how female abuse
survivors might turn their psychological suffering into a politics of resistance and
engage in group activism for social change. Through the compelling testimonies of
survivors, Women Survivors, Psychological Trauma, and the Politics of Resistance
delves into the processes, insights, and circumstances that led these women to join the
group fighting against violence against women and children. (Routledge, 2020).
Common strategies involve improving resilience and social resources. Taking the
initiative to save money provides the opportunity to escape, while maintaining a sense
of humor, and keeping a strong faith in God (spirituality) functions to protect some
women (Jardin, 2022).

Foreign Studies

The recovery phase is also subject to mental, social, and physical stress.
Survivors are subject to experience severe anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic
stress disorder (Buzdar et al, 2023). The process of implementing recovery for victims
of domestic abuse involves getting in touch with the appropriate parties to foster
cooperation in the provision of services to victims through their roles and
responsibilities. Access from outside parties, in this example participating women's
observer organizations, can help support the desired outcomes and help safeguard and
aid victims of domestic abuse. The benefits of this excellent cooperation and the
policy to support victims of domestic abuse are substantial, enabling victims to go
about their daily lives without feeling pressured psychologically and inspiring them to
become more self-reliant. (Suchmasasi, 2021). Empowerment programs that aim to
enhance women's autonomy and self-esteem also play a significant role in their
recovery. In addition, women can reconstruct their lives and escape abusive cycles
with the support of economic independence, as well as possibilities for education and
work. To provide a supportive environment for survivors, culturally aware
interventions that tackle attitudes regarding gender roles and societal standards are
crucial. In the end, the road to recovery (Rafikah & Rahmawati, 2015).

The importance of training in fostering understanding and giving them the

tools necessary to assist victim-survivors. In the short and immediate aftermath of
training, the synthesis found statistically significant gains in the knowledge and
attitudes of informal supporters. The review, which framed the data using a behavior
change paradigm, discovered that training and educational initiatives both prepare and
increase the capacity and motivation of informal supporters to assist victim-survivors.
This raises the possibility that unofficial supporters will move to assist abused victims
and survivors. However, we are unsure of the kind of support they will offer and if
victim-survivors will find it beneficial. (Schucan Bird et al, 2023). The majority of
survivors will look for unofficial support from others in their social circle, even if

they decide not to seek professional assistance. Support from these friends, neighbors,
coworkers, and family members has been demonstrated to be protective against abuse
in the future and to act as a buffer against effects on the survivor's quality of life,
mental and physical health, and physical health. Studies on survivors' networks and,
in particular, how the effects of Domestic Violence could spread to influence them are
lacking in the literature. Effects on physical health, detrimental effects on
psychological health, effects directly caused by the offender, and positive effects on
psychological health. The research included in this review suggested that informal
supporters might be facing serious consequences, such as the possibility of bodily
damage and vicarious trauma. These findings have practical and policy consequences,
as there is currently little support available that is specifically targeted at informal
supporters of DV survivors. It is important to recognize and address their needs
(Gregory et al, 2016).

through survivor narratives. Our analysis revealed important barriers and facilitators
of trauma healing. Social context was discovered to have a powerful influence over
barriers and facilitators. Analysis of the nature of healing revealed three main
objectives: reconnecting with the self, others, and the world. This information can be
utilized by clinicians to create safer, more empowering, healing spaces for survivors.

The findings included the recovery journey as a nonlinear, iterative experience

that requires active engagement and patience. Healing was composed of trauma
processing and reexamination, managing negative states, rebuilding the self,
connecting with others, and regaining hope and power. This study considers
implications for future research, policy, and practice and, in particular, focuses on the
need to expand our knowledge of alternative recovery pathways and mechanisms for
healing.
