Proposed Topics

I choose Database and Information system as my proposed topic.

Information Systems

The key to any organization's success is the effective management of its information systems.
Information systems is a term used to describe the combination of human resource, information
technology and different business processes while aiming of accomplishing the organization's objectives
("What are information systems," n.d.). The selection of this article came due to the value attached to it.
The article discusses almost all issues concerning information systems in organizations. For example, it is
evident that, when most people hear about information systems, the issue of the use of computer and
technology rings in their minds. However, the article states that the information system is not just about
the use of computers. Information systems also have a human factor, business processes and
information technology that works together in furtherance of business aims. Furthermore, the effective
use of information systems allows organizations to remain competitive. An organization with sound
information systems can store and retrieve information quickly. In turn, the organization's effectiveness
is enhanced.

Database

A database is a group of information organized for easy access, management and update.
Notably, access to this information is done electronically through the use of a computer (Yafooz, 2016).
There are diverse types of databases and the simplest one is the text database. When the organization
of data is in a text file containing rows and columns, there is easy storage, protection and retrieval of
data. For example, saving the list of names starting with the first name followed by last names proves to
be the simplest database. Also, desktop database programs as another database are much complex
compared to a text database but are designed for a single user (Yafooz, 2016). An excellent example of
such a database is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. More importantly, when a desktop database system is
compared to a text database, it proves to be of great benefit because of its speed. Additionally,
relational database management systems (RDMS) as the most commonly used database allows the
management of programs over the desktop database systems (Yafooz, 2016). The selection of the article
came due to its ability to explain and disclose the essential kinds of database systems.
