Theme 1.
How well did you achieve the practice criteria for this unit?
I have achieved this practice Very good by complying with legislative guidance
to orient my work of interacting with the patients and the other healthcare
providers by applying governing and ethical principles by adhere to certain
legal and ethical standards that have ensured the autonomy, justice,
beneficence, nonmaleficence, and fidelity to myself and others.
●There was some equivocation of some ethical standards with some foreign
patients due to the cultural difference
How can you action plan to develop these skills and/or qualities further/
help to improve provision in the healthcare sector?
• By holding periodic courses for the staff explaining the policies, laws,
regulations, and ethical standards followed by the hospital.
• Placing posters containing hospital laws, policies, regulations, and ethical
standards in each of the medical staff gathering places.
• Simplifying the laws, policies, regulations, and ethical standards so that they
contain only the important points to be easy to memorize and remember when
applying.
While I taking care of patient in floors(patients)room I start identifying the patient and
explaining the procedure which is wound dressing when I start to prepare the equipment during
touching the equipment the senior nurse realize my mistake and reminded me with the safety
law and telling me to the right act which is to wear sterile gloves and make sure to the safety
policy of the procedure.
Feeling
Because of the lack of interest in the laws, but of knowing the extent of their impact, I noticed
The danger that would be happen because the lack of information
Evaluation
It was too bad not to have read the hospital’s policy on how the procedure is performed
Analysis
If there was no accompanying nurse during the procedure, you would have put the patient at
risk by violating the law that guarantees his safety
Conclusion
I have to concerning safety and health appropriateness within my performance and practices
that need to be abide following the law, policies, regulations, ethical standards.
Action plan
Reading the hospital’s laws, policies, and ethical standards, asking about the laws and ethical
standards of each procedure and policies, and reading books about how laws are combined
with ethics, due to ignorance of their application more accurately.
