 Kaolin Clay: Provides mild exfoliation and absorbs excess oils without drying out the skin.

n. Its gentle
properties make it suitable for all skin types, adding a soft, creamy texture to the soap.
 Liquid Castile Soap (Base): Acts as the main cleansing base, removing dirt and impurities while
producing a mild lather. Castile soap is derived from plant oils, so it’s naturally moisturizing and
great for sensitive skin.
 Essential Oils (Lavender, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Frankincense, Bergamot/Lemon): These essential oils
are included not just for scent, but for their antibacterial and soothing properties. Lavender and tea
tree oil offer antibacterial protection, while peppermint, frankincense, and bergamot or lemon
enhance the fresh, soothing fragrance. Together, they create a cohesive scent that’s refreshing and
lightly floral.
 Distilled Water: Used to dilute the mixture and achieve the right consistency. Distilled water is pure,
without any impurities that could affect the soap’s shelf life.
 Glycerin: Acts as a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin to keep it hydrated. It’s a must for
maintaining soft, moisturized hands even with frequent washing.
 Optiphen: Serves as the preservative, preventing bacterial and fungal growth, which is crucial for
any water-based product to ensure safety and a longer shelf life.
 Xanthan Gum: A natural thickening agent that enhances the texture and viscosity of the soap. It
helps keep ingredients like kaolin clay from settling at the bottom and creates a smooth, gel-like
consistency.
 D-Panthenol: Also known as Provitamin B5, it’s a skin conditioner that moisturizes and soothes. D-
Panthenol adds an extra layer of hydration and conditioning to balance the clay’s exfoliating effects.
 Cocoamidopropyl Betaine: This gentle surfactant helps the soap lather and enhances its cleansing
power. It also reduces potential irritation from castile soap, making it gentle enough for frequent
use.
 Citric Acid: Helps adjust the pH of the soap to a skin-friendly range, as castile soap on its own is too
alkaline. Proper pH adjustment is essential for skin compatibility and maintaining the soap's stability.

Each ingredient has a purpose and complements the others. The castile soap and cocoamidopropyl
betaine provide cleansing power and lather, while glycerin and D-Panthenol prevent the skin from
drying out. The kaolin clay adds a gentle exfoliating effect, and the essential oils blend well to give
antibacterial properties while creating a refreshing and calming scent.
