GUIDELINE FOR
TEACHING-LEARNING METHODS & ACTIVITIES
IQAC, Shah Satnam Ji Boys College, Sirsa (Events for departmental A. Activities for departments: academic & activity calendar) Note: ❖ It is mandatory to undertake at least one activity of the following groups of activities in each semester. ❖ It is mandatory to take attendance of participated students & capture geo-tagged photos at the time of conducting these activities. ❖ There should be at least two activities held under the club of the department.
Group-1: Experiential Learning-
• Industrial Visits • Internships • Students undertaking project work/ Field work • Workshop and Presentations • Exhibitions • Model making contest • Technology experiment: as Google from creation etc. • Participation and Presentations in Seminar/Workshop by Students Group-2: Participative Learning- • Debate competition • Quiz contest • Group Discussion • Poster making contest • Watching documentary • Street / Role Plays • Intercollegiate Mock Parliament Competition • Programming competition, Seminar Presentation, Project given to students • Participation in Clubs activities. • Annual Tech Fest, Management Fest etc. Group-3: Problem Solving Methodologies- • Career Counselling Program • Regular Assignments based on problems • Case Studies are given to students to build solutions to problems. • Mini project development (Different from regular subjects assignments) • Assignments on Blog/web Creation, GitHub, cyber security, management case study etc. • Participate in ‘Hackathons’ assessment methods • Case studies Discussion • Guidance & Career Counselling program • Participation in Inter college events (external institutes). Group-4: ICT Enabled Tools for Effective Teaching Learning Process- • LMS • Google Classroom • Google Sites • E-Content Study material • E-Content on YouTube Channel • Use of Smart Class with PPTs, App, Website & Video Group-5: Soft skills Activities • Students Development Programme, • Physical appearance and Personality Development during an interview, • Skill Development Workshop to crack personal interviews, learn how to crack group discussions, discuss the Resume Writing Skills, Use of job portals to find the job, Employability Training Program etc. • (Some important events like Lecture, Workshop, Students Activities, Career, Employability Skill, Soft Skill Development Courses, Visits, Awareness Program, Software & Technology training program, etc.)
Group-6: Language and communication skills Activities
• Language Lab, value added course, effective communication skill program, • Interview Skills, Workshop on Personal Development, • Program on Resume Building & LinkedIn Profile etc. Group-7: Life skills • Workshop on Yoga for Health and Peace, physical fitness, health and hygiene, self- employment and entrepreneurial skills. • Technical Training Program for Students on- Lighting a Lamp, Solar Lamp Making- Business opportunities in Renewable energy, • Awareness on Competitive Exams, • Self-Grooming/ Self-defense training etc. Group-8: Awareness of trends in technology • Industrial visit • Technology training • Workshop on tech, exhibition, lecture on new trends in technology etc. Group-9: Capacity building by external expert- (This can also be done during practical viva) • Expert/extension Lectures and Workshops • Academic Guidance & Talk by experts/Recourse persons
Group-10: Add-on/ Value aided/MOOC Courses (Minimum 30 hrs.)
• According to DGHE list of offline value-based certificate courses. • Online MOOC courses on Swayam portal.
Some other important activities for Teachers:
1. Academic Meeting by HoDs (Departmental Meetings) 2. Staff participating in Faculty development Programmes, professional development / administrative training programs organized by external institutes. (Less than 5 days FDPs are not to be considered) 3. Research papers published per teacher in the Journals as notified on UGC CARE list & Books and chapters in edited volumes/books published and papers published. 4. Unit wise monthly test is required for each class. Maintain records and results of monthly tests. 5. Online courses of MOOCs, SWAYAM, NPTEL etc. (for Teacher & Students) 6. Collect Certificates of qualified students in state/ national/ international level examinations. 7. Motivate your students to regular using offline or online learning resources on library. B. Activities for Various Committees/Criterion team Note: ❖ It is mandatory to undertake at least one of the following points of activities in each semester. ❖ It is mandatory to take attendance of participated students & capture geo- tagged photos at the time of conducting these activities.
1. MoU activity Committee & Criterion-3:
• Establishing MOUs with external organizations in India and abroad for internship, on-the-job training, project work, student/ faculty exchange and collaborative research. • At least one activity should have been conducted under an MoU during the assessment period. 2. Career Guidance & Counselling Cell: • It is mandatory to organize career counseling seminars twice a year and placement drive once. • Once in a year, Guidance & Classes for preparation of competitive exams (Minimum 30 Hours). 3. Alumni Association Committee: • Alumni activity/meeting & contribution (Minimum 1 activities in a year). • Design class wise web page for alumni cell for engagements of Alumnus. • Alumni contribution is essential. 4. Research & Promotion Committee: (Note: It is necessary to organize each event once in every semester) • FDP (Faculty Development Programme for 7 days) • IPR, Incubation events, entrepreneurship (With the collaboration of Commerce department) • Workshop on Research work • Training Program for Non-teaching. 5. NSS and NCC’s activities with the collaboration of Criterion-7: • The activities and Camp of NSS, institutional social responsibility through Red Cross, Village Adoption, Tree plantation. Swatchh Bharat and Health awareness camp to help the students to learn Art of living in a team for Social and community welfare. • Workshop Event programme on Inclusive environment– tolerance & harmony, culture, regional, community, linguistic) value, rights, duties of citizens. Promotion of ethical values and social responsibility. Extension Activities on Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability. • Extension activities in the neighborhood community in terms of impact and sensitizing the students to social issues for their holistic development. Awareness program etc. Extension and outreach programs conducted by the institution through organized forums including NSS/NCC with involvement of community. 6. Indian Knowledge System Committee: (work for traditional value): do experts talks, Workshops, Awareness Programme, MOUs, Technical Event, Debate Competition, training programs, Quiz etc. on some important topics as: ✓ Vedic Wisdom Talks ✓ Ayurvedic Wellness Workshop ✓ Sanskrit Texts Exploration ✓ Traditional Arts and Crafts Expo ✓ Yoga for Modern Living ✓ Ancient Technologies Seminar ✓ Indian Philosophy Discussion Series ✓ Cultural Heritage Fest ✓ Vedic Mathematics Challenge ✓ Classical Dance and Music Showcase ✓ Historical Manuscripts Exhibit ✓ Traditional Healing Practices Workshop ✓ Indian Knowledge Systems Research Forum ✓ Festival of Indian Knowledge ✓ Meditation and Mindfulness Retreat ✓ Sustainable Practices from Ancient India ✓ Heritage Site Study Tours ✓ Interactive Sanskrit Learning Sessions ✓ Traditional Textile Arts Workshop ✓ Indian Astrology and Astronomy Insights ✓ Environmental wisdom in Indian Knowledge system.
