AGE WORD PROBLEM

Keth is 6 years more than twice Tom age. 2 years ago, keth was three times as old as Tom. How old was
keth 2 years ago?

Keth Tom Equation

Present K T K=6+2T

Past K-2 T-2 K-2=3(T-2)

6+2T-2=3(T-2)

4+2T=3T-6

-2T -2T

4=T-6

10 = T

Present T=10 K=26

Past T=8 K=24 <--- answer

MIXTURE PROBLEM

50L of a 15% alcohol solution is mixed with 150L of a 35% alcohol solution.

What is the concentration of the mixture?

15% 35%

50L 150L
C1 V1 + C2 V2 = C3 V3

(15%) (50L) + (35%) (150L) = C3(200)

750+5250=200 C3

6000 = 200 C3

200 200

30=C3 <--- answer

V3=V1+V2=50+150=200L
