GEORGE TAY (MALAYSIA)
George Tay is a seasoned music educator and conductor with
29 years of teaching experience, specialising in Conducting,
Vocal Coaching, and Piano Pedagogy. He holds a Master's
degree in Music Education from The UCL Institute of Education
(IOE), University of London. Notably, he honed his conducting
skills under the guidance of esteemed conductors during his 11
years of residency in London, including the late Mr. George
Hurst, Denise Ham, Dr. Colin Durrant, Rodolfo Saglimbeni,
Robert Houlihan, Toby Purser, and Paul Sarcich.

Highlights of his achievements include receiving a Special


Mention Award from the UK Medici International Music
Competition, a Gold Award from the MCE Malaysia National
Choir Competition, and being appointed as Conductor for the
TV3 Sarawak State Anthem Recording.

Additionally, he has garnered multiple awards from international
choral competitions in Taiwan and Singapore, won the ABRSM
Choral Competition for the Sarawak Region, and served as Music
Director of the 1st ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards
Gala Dinner.

George has extensive experience in directing music productions and designing music
courses for schools, churches, and other institutions. He has performed at numerous
venues and events internationally, especially in London. George represents music
education in the UK and USA and is also a member of the International Federation For
Choral Music. His wealth of conducting experience and dedication to music education
and community outreach underscore his significant impact on Kuching's music scene and
beyond. Through workshops, performances, and innovative initiatives, he continues to
inspire and mentor aspiring musicians.
