GIMP:
GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program.
It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition, and
image authoring.
It is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, OS X, Windows, and other operating
systems.
Whether a person is a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides
him or her with sophisticated tools to get a job done.
ADDING AND FORMATTING TEXTS x

Text is managed with the Text tool. This tool creates a

new layer containing the text above the current layer in the
layer dialog and with the size of the text box. Its name is in
the beginning of the text.
As soon as we click the canvas with the Text tool, we get
a closed text box and a semi-transparent tool box just above.

Text Tool

It places text into an image. We can write our text

directly on the canvas. No text editor is needed anymore. A
text toolbar allows us to edit text in different ways.
We can still use the Text Option dialog to change the font,
color, and size of our text, and justify it interactively.
ADDING AND FORMATTING TEXTS x
To use the Text tool, we do these steps:
1. Click the Text tool from the Toolbox, and click the canvas.
2. Type the text that we want to put on the image.
As soon as we type our text, it appears on the canvas in a rectangle
frame. The texts automatically adapted to the frame size if we want to
draw the rectangle frame first. We can enlarge this frame as we do with
rectangular selections.
