Exercise – 1 –
An urn U contains 5 red balls, 3 black and 2 white balls.
Part – A –
A player is drawing three balls simultaneously and at random from U.
1. How many possible drawings do we have?
2. How many possible drawings containing three red balls do we have?
3. How many possible drawings containing three balls of same color do we have?
4. How many possible drawings containing three balls of different color do we have?
5. How many possible drawings containing no black balls do we have?
6. How many possible drawings containing at least one black ball do we have?
Part – B –
The player is now drawing three balls successively and at random from U.
How many possible drawings containing three balls of same color do we have in each case:
(a) Drawings with replacement?
(b) Drawings without replacement?

Exercise – 3 –
Sami’s pocket contains three bills of 100 000 LL, two bills of 50 000 LL and one bill of 10 000 LL.
He is choosing simultaneously and at random two bills from his pocket.
1. How many possible ways does he have?
2. In how many possible ways can he get at least a sum of 150 000 LL?
Suppose now that he’s choosing successively two bills from his pocket without replacing it again.
1. How many possible ways does he have?
2. In how many ways can he get 100 000 LL and 50 000 LL in this order?
3. In how many ways can he get 100 000 LL and 50 000 LL?
