Specifier Notes: This product guide specification is written according to the Construction Specifications
Institute (CSI) 3-Part Format, including MasterFormat, SectionFormat, and PageFormat, as described in
The Project Resource Manual—CSI Manual of Practice.

The section must be carefully reviewed and edited by the Architect to meet the requirements of the project
and local building code. Coordinate this section with other specification sections and the Drawings. Delete
all "Specifier Notes" when editing this section.

Section numbers are from MasterFormat 1995 Edition, with numbers from MasterFormat 2004 Edition in
parentheses. Delete version not required.

SECTION 06600 (06 64 00)

PVC WALL AND CEILING PANELING

Specifier Notes: This section covers DURAMAX PVC wall and ceiling panel liner system. Consult US
Polymers Inc for assistance in editing this section for the specific application.

PART 1 GENERAL

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Comply with Section 01330 (01 33 00) - Submittal Procedures.

B. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data, including the following:


1. Preparation instructions.
2. Installation instructions.
3. Storage and handling requirements and
recommendations.

C. Samples:
1. For each finish product specified, two samples representing product, color, and patterns.

D. Manufacturer's Certification: Submit manufacturer's certification that materials comply with


specified requirements and are suitable for intended application.

E. Maintenance Instructions: Submit manufacturer's maintenance and cleaning instructions.

F. Warranty: Submit manufacturer's standard warranty.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's original, unopened containers and


packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.

B. Storage:
1. Store materials in clean, dry area indoors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
2. Store wall and ceiling panels flat.

C. Handling: Protect materials during handling and installation to prevent damage.

1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Installing Wall and Ceiling Panels:


1. Cold Temperatures: When installing wall and ceiling panels in temperatures below 40
degrees F, warm to a minimum of 60 degrees F overnight and leave space between
panels to allow for expansion in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
2. Warm Temperatures: When installing wall and ceiling panels in temperatures above 70
degrees F, warm panels to a minimum of 60 degrees F in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.

B. Cutting Wall and Ceiling Panels:


1. Cold Temperatures: Before field-cutting wall and ceiling panels in temperatures below 40
degrees F, warm panels to a minimum of 60 degrees F overnight.

1.7 WARRANTY

A. At project closeout, provide to Owner or Owner’s Representative an executed copy of


the manufacturer’s standard limited warranty against manufacturing defect, outlining its
terms, conditions, and exclusions from coverage.
1. Term: Limited Lifetime.

A. Duramax Wall and Ceiling Panels:


1. Description: Tongue-and-groove, rib-reinforced wall and ceiling panels with nailing fins.
2. Material: 100 percent virgin, exterior-grade PVC.
3. Outside Surface: Flat.
4. Width: 16 inches.
5. Thickness: 1/2 inch.
6. Weight: 0.95 pound per square foot.
7. Surface Burning Characteristics, ASTM E 84:
a. Flame Spread Index: 10.
b. Smoke Developed Index: 400.
8. Color: White, glossy finish.
9. Nonporous

2.3 ACCESSORIES

A. Construction Adhesive: PL400 or Liquid Nails, as recommended by wall and ceiling panel
manufacturer.

B. Fasteners:
1. Fastening into Wood: Stainless steel,1 to 1-1/2-inch, No.10 pancake-head metal screws.
2. Fastening into Masonry: Stainless steel, Buildex Tapcon 3/16-inch by 1-1/4-inch screws,
. with 1/4-inch stainless steel washers.
3. Fastening into Metal: Stainless steel, 3/4-inch, No. 10 truss-head sheet metal or flat-head
Tek screws.
4. Staples: Do not use.

Specifier Notes: Specify the section number for joint sealants.

C. Joint Sealants: As specified in Section 07920 (07 92 00).

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine areas to receive wall and ceiling panels.

B. Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect installation or subsequent use.

C. Do not begin preparation or installation until unacceptable conditions are corrected.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Prepare wall and ceiling panels for installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Ensure wall and ceiling panels are dry and clean.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install wall and ceiling panels in accordance with manufacturer's instructions at locations
indicated on the Drawings.

B. Install wall and ceiling panels plumb, level, square, flat, and in proper alignment.

C. Install trim in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

D. Ceiling Panels: Anchor ceiling panels with fasteners in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.

E. Wall Panels: Anchor wall panels with construction adhesive and fasteners in accordance with
manufacturer's instructions.

F. Fasteners:
1. Install fasteners 16 inches to 24 inches on center into nailing fins.
2. Fastening into Wood or Metal: Stainless Steel or Zinc coated, 1 inch
No. 10 pancake head screw.
3. Keep top of screw head 1/16 inch above top of nailing fins, allowing panels to move
4. slightly.
5. Do not recess screw heads into nailing fins.
Ensure nailing fins lay flat against surface, not deformed around screw heads.
Ensure fasteners are not exposed.

G. Cutting Wall and Ceiling Panels:


1. Field-cut panels as necessary in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
2. Ensure cuts are straight, square, and do not damage panels.

H. Apply joint sealants as specified in Section 07920 (07 92 00).

3.4 ADJUSTING

A. Repair minor damages to finish in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and as approved
by Architect.

B. Remove and replace damaged wall and ceiling panels in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.

3.5 CLEANING

A. Clean wall and ceiling panels promptly after installation in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.

B. Do not use harsh cleaning materials or methods that could damage finish.

3.6 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed wall and ceiling panels from damage during construction.
