v. 2.1b Published April 2020 9

EDGE INPUT
CALCULATORS (SRI, AASF, U, COP)

In the software, there are calculators.

We use the calculator to compute the WWR, the “U” values, average SRI, shading and so
on.
Example. If you two types of roof, say you have a concrete deck and a GI roof. For the
computation of the average “SRI” or “U” values, you can use Type 1 roof concrete deck and
Type 2 wall for the GI roof.
To get the percentage of each type of roof, you will need to have a supporting calculation
showing the how you compute the area of the concrete deck and the GI roof.

EDGE INPUT-CALCULATION (SRI, U, COP)

v. 2.1b Published April 2020 11

EDGE INPUTS
CALCULATORS (SRI)

In this roof plan, there is a GI roof and a concrete deck concrete

deck.

To get the SRI for the roof, get the area of the GI roof, the color
and look for the table recommended SRI.

Then you get the concrete deck area, the color and then look for
the table recommended SRI.

EDGE INPUTS
CALCULATORS (U)

In the calculator for U value, all you have to do is select the

material form the pull down menu, then the thickness of material
and then the software will calculate the U value for you.

If you material do not appear in the pull down menu, add the
material and input the U value form material catalogue and the
thickness of the material and the software will do the rest for you.

v. 2.1b Published April 2020 28
EDGE INPUTS
CALCULATORS (U)

If you have different wall material, compute the U value of each

material and get the average of the U value using the average U
value of the materials considering the area of each material.

AVERAGE U OF WALL= (A1 (INS PANEL)* U VALUE + A2* U

VALUE OF MATERIAL 2 + A3 * U VALUE OF MATERIAL3)/(A1+A2+A3)

A separate calculation sheet maybe needed in some case.

COMMENTS

AUDITORS/REVIEWER
You need to comment on each measure that was selected by the
design team. Either you approve or reject the measure. If you reject
the measure indicate why it was rejected. In the “DESIGN” tab, you
also have to indicate if you reject or approve the project. You cannot
approve the project for certification if you have rejected any
measures in the energy, water or materials tab.
DESIGN TEAM
You need to check each if each or the measure that you claim are
either approved or rejected. Approved measures can no longer be
changed.

AUDITOR’S & EXPERT’S ROLE

AUDITOR’S ROLE
You have to make sure that the document submitted for audit will
be installed on site. If they claim that wall is 125mm thick, you need to EDGE
Auditor
check on the contract documents the section showing the wall thickness.
You have to confirm also that all the walls is 125mm thick, if there are Plans,
Specs
variation, you have to get the average thickness. and/or
Calcs
EXPERT’S ROLE
You have to make sure that the document that you will submit
will support the claim that you have chosen. A drawing that is not taken Design team
from the contract document is not acceptable (just drawing a section for
wall is not acceptable). It should come from the contract document.
