Assignment Guidelines: Real-World Data Application in Problem Solving

Objective:
The goal of this assignment is to leverage real-world data from your work environment to
identify, analyze, and solve a business problem. This project encourages you to apply data-
driven methods, using tools like Solver, to address challenges in your field, with a focus on
outlining the problem, detailing the solution process, and reflecting on challenges and
learnings.

Assignment Guidelines:

1. Problem Identification
- Describe a specific business or operational problem at your workplace where data analysis
was or could be applied to find a solution. Explain the problem’s context, stakeholders, and
potential impact.

2. Solution Process
- Outline the methodology used or proposed to solve the problem. This should include:
* Data Collection: Describe the data collected, including data sources, data type, and
relevance.
* Data Analysis and Tools: Detail the analysis performed using Solver or any other
analytical tools. Highlight any statistical or optimization methods employed to address the
problem.
* Results and Impact: Summarize the results, including any quantitative findings or
actionable insights derived from the analysis. Explain how the solution added value or could
add value to the organization.

3. Challenges and Solutions


- Describe the challenges encountered in the data collection, analysis, or implementation
stages. If the problem was solved, explain how these challenges were overcome. If it is
ongoing, suggest strategies or approaches to overcome anticipated obstacles.

4. Learnings and Reflection


- Reflect on the experience of applying data analysis in a professional setting. Discuss any
key takeaways, including lessons learned about data limitations, process improvements, or
unexpected insights.
Deliverables:
1. Report: Submit a maximum of 5 pages in Word or PDF format, covering each of the
sections above. The report should be clear, concise, and professional, with visuals or tables
included where relevant.

2. Data (Optional): You may attach anonymized data or sample data used in the project. This
is optional and intended for illustrative purposes only.
