Questions for House Rent Allowance:

1) Ajay lives in a rented house in Delhi. The details of his income are as follows:
Basic salary: ₹35,000 per month
Dearness Allowance (DA): ₹10,000 per month
Commission on turnover achieved: ₹6,000
Rent paid by him: ₹15,000 per month
Compute his House Rent Allowance (HRA).

2) Mr. Kishor lives in a rented house in Kolkata. The details of his income are as follows:
Basic salary: ₹35,000 per month
Commission on turnover achieved: ₹10,000
Rent paid by him: ₹10,000 per month
Compute his House Rent Allowance (HRA).

3) Compute the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of Mr. Jay, who works in Delhi, based on
the following details:
Salary: ₹28,000 per month
Bonus: ₹28,000 (annual)
Until 30th November 2023, he lived with his father without paying any rent and
received an HRA of ₹10,000 per month.
From 1st December 2023, he moved to rented accommodation, paying a rent of ₹15,000
per month, and his HRA was increased to ₹12,000 per month from that date.

Problem 1
Mr. Shah is working in a private airline at Chennai. (Population Above 25 Lakhs). His
monthly salary is Rs 160,000 PM and he is getting Rs 32,000 PM as DA(NOT UTE).He
has received Rs 160,000 as bonus and Rs 48,000 as educational allowance for his two
children.
He is also provided with a flight allowance of Rs 8,000 PM to meet his personal expenses,
while on duty. He is also provided with a rent free unfurnished accommodation, with a fair
rental value of Rs 4,80,000 PA. Compute the taxable salary of Mr. Shah for the assessment
year 2022-23?

Problem 2
Mr. Rajesh a private sector employee is working in Mumbai (population of the city is more
than 25 Lakhs). From the following information, compute his taxable salary for the AY 2022-
23?
Consolidated salary= Rs 3,36,000
Furnished RFA on which company pays an annual rent of Rs 30,000, and the cost of
furnishing the house is Rs 20,000. Employer has provided a with a refrigerator by paying
a rent of Rs 360 PM.
Mr Rajesh is also provided with a car, with a cubic capacity not exceeding 1.6 Lt, without a
driver
by the employer for both personal and official purposes.
Mr. Rajesh and his employer is contributing 10% of salary towards RPF.
Compute the taxable salary of Mr. Rajesh for the assessment year 2022-23?

Problem 3
Compute the taxable salary of Mr. Mahesh for the assessment year2022-23?
Place of employment is Mumbai, (population above 25lakhs)
Pay Rs 50,000 PM
Dearness Allowance Rs 10,000 PM (UTE)
Provided with a Rent Free Furnished five room house. The fair rental value of the house is Rs
24,000 PM. Cost of furnishing is Rs 2,60,000 which included expenditure on
furnishing a room with Rs 60,000 which is used for official purposes.
Mr. Mahesh and his employer are both contributing 13% of salary towards RPF.
Telephone bill Rs 5,000 paid by employer, but the telephone was used only for official
expenses.
Club bill paid by employer Rs 8,200.
Education allowance Rs 7,800 for his two children.
Reimbursement of medical expenses for the treatment of a notified hospital and for notified
disease, Rs 3,110.
He is provided with a car of 14HP, which is provided only for official purposes.
Leave Travel Concession to go to a hill station, Rs 53000 and the actual amount spent was
Rs 39,300.
