Rules for a simple, clear PowerPoint presentation

1. Little text
• short phrases or key points, no full paragraphs
• maximum 5-6 lines of text per slide

2. Consistent and simple layout

• a readable font, such as Arial or Calibri/at least 24 points, keep it consistent
throughout
• enough contrast between text colour and background

3. Use visuals effectively

• Add images, graphs, or tables to support your message, but don't overdo it.
• Make sure visuals are relevant and strengthen your point.
• Use high-quality images and avoid mixing too many different styles.

4. One message per slide

• Focus on one idea or concept per slide to help the audience better understand the
content.

5. Use bullet points

• Bullet points are an effective way to structure ideas.
• Keep the number of bullet points per slide to a maximum of 4-5 to maintain clarity.

6. Use simple animations and transitions

• Apply animations and transitions sparingly. Too many can be distracting.
• Opt for subtle effects like 'fade' or 'slide' rather than complex movements.

7. Colour and style usage

• Stick to a simple colour palette (maximum 3-4 colours) for a professional look.
• Use colours strategically to highlight important points.

8. Use of white space

• Leave enough white space (empty space) on each slide to keep the design clean and
readable.
• This helps focus attention on the key points.

9. Ensure consistent branding

• Use the same colour scheme, font, and logo (if necessary) on each slide to create a
professional, cohesive presentation.

10. Practise your presentation

• Know what you want to say without relying too much on the text on the slides.
• The slides should serve as visual support, not as the main source of information.
On teams :

1. Form with sources (IA Unit 1 Sources)

2. Document with proof of your research (IA report of the traced information)
3. Self-evaluation check
4. PowerPoint

Find, select and use the information needed
