Q1 Intelligent 5G communication is coming to our life. To generate a 5 GHz signal, an
advanced scheme is to use the ‘optical microwave conversion’ via beating. Considering
there are two optical signals, x1(t) = cos(2πf1t), x2(t) = cos(2πf2t), with f1 = 2000 GHz,
f2 = 2005 GHz.

(a) Please determine the beat-note w(t) = x1(t)x2(t) in frequency domain, by using
the Fourier transform, and plot the W(jω). [10]

(b) Furthermore, by using a low-pass filter shown in Figure Q1, we can get the
local oscillation of W(jω). We can call it L(jω). Please determine the L(jω) and
l(t). [4]

(c) The generated L(jω) could be applied for 5G signal processing. Considering a

Q2 Sampling is the bridge to transfer continuous signals to digital signals, enabling the
A/D-D/A systems. Figure Q2(a) shows a typical sampling-amplification-recovering

Q3 The RLC circuit is usually used in clock oscillator. A typical RLC circuit is shown in
Figure Q3. The response of this circuit could be written as
