Course Description Chapter 2: Data Communication Layers
Data Communication and Computer Networking is a course which deals about the basic concepts of ways  OSI 7-layer reference model and concepts of open standards
of communication, types of communications, basic types of networking devices, how devices are  Motivations for standards
communicating each other using the TCP/IP and OSI reference model, designing a small LAN network  ISO reference model
using peer to peer connection, basic types of LAN and WAN protocols, the Wireless Network and  Open standard
identifying the protocols which are working at the Application and Transport layers.  Internetworking with TCP/IP; Structure
General Objective  Architectures
after completing the course the students are going to evaluate the application of Computer Networking in  Protocol standards
today’s global communities who are linked by common goals and technologies.  Internet IP and Bandwidth
