Summary of Results
Provide the needed information on the space provided. Always take the initial values at +2 m and the final
values at -2 m .
Guide Questions
Based on my observation from the animation shown the forces acting on the skater are the normal force,
and the gravity itself considering the mass of the skater. It is stated in the manual that the friction must
be turned to none so assumingly there is no frictional force.
b. Are the length of the tracks from +2 m to -2 m the same? Which of the tracks takes the shortest path from
+2 m to -2 m? Which track takes the longest path?
According to what I have noticed, the length of the tracks are not the same. The shortest path is the track
number 2 while the longest path is the track number 3.
c. What can you say about the work done by your answer/s in #1 to the skater in tracks 1, 2, and 3?
I can say that the angle in each of the tracks and the gravity affects the work done. They all differ on the
value of work done because of the different paths.
d. Did varying paths affect the work done by your answer/s in #1 to the skater? Explain your answer.
Yes, the varying paths did affect the work done because, due to the different angles present in the track this
affects the work that can be done along with the gravitational force.
Conclusion
In my conclusion this laboratory simulation points us about how work, energy, and power are related to
each other. In work it tells us about the forces that can be applied and the distance that it covers along with
the angle. In Energy this is the ability to do work. In Power this is the rate at which the work is done or
energy is transferred. As we can all see in the simulation, these three concepts are present in each of the
tracks.
