ANALYZE

1. From the PPSTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards and the TEDx videos that you
viewed, what competencies does a great teacher possess?

 As a future educator, the competencies that a teacher should possess includes fair,
organized, having a good attitude that is approachable and most of all being good
communicator, good listener, understands the feeling of his/her students, make themselves
humble before students and take risks. I should always put aside my fear to try, explore and
adventure new things, new learnings as well. For me a great teacher notices when a students
struggling to build a trust within his students that supported one another if they fail.

2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?

 I think its no, because it also includes the other qualities and personalities of a teacher. In
which this personal qualities are very important in students learning especially in their
personal development and growth.
3. For a teacher to be great, is it enough to possess the professional competencies to plan a lesson,
manage a class, asses learning, compute and report grades? Explain your answer.

 In able for us to be a great teacher, we should not only possess the professional
competencies but also we should acquire personal qualities of a teacher. More than that we
as a future educator are subjected to minute inspect, monitor and observe by those with
whom we interact. We as a teacher look by the others profession because we are the builders
and contributor of every profession as well. The impressions they make on learners and co-
teachers are determined by the personality they project. That’s why being a teacher is hard
because we are a role model to our students and to our co-workers and it not only end up of
being a role model to everyone. It also require how to become organized in our classroom
management . being creative and innovative in making lesson plan and of coarse in
evaluating learning by giving fair and approachable manner to his/her students.

4. For a teacher to be great, which is more imp ortant-personal qualities or professional

competencies?

 For us to be great teacher it requires the two important qualities and it is personal and
professional competencies. If we become professional someday we should possess
dignity and reputation with high moral values as well as personal and professional
competencies. We should always remember that we are the model of our children and
their hope in molding their future as well that’s why we should act the way that can
motivate and inspire them what ever action we do.

5. Who are the teachers that we remember most?

 In what I observe, students often remembered teachers who have sense of humor,
approachable and very welcoming, brilliant and passionate. Teachers who cared about
their students. In may past experiences as a students I remembered teachers who always
giving me advice, who are supportive, encouraging and always taking care of his/her
students and saw something that no one else did. This are teachers always listen and fair
to every students he/she met and most of all they are always their to guide, monitor and
help us in times of our difficulties as well.

REFLECT

1. Which personal traits do I possess? Not possess? Where do I need improvement in?

 The personal qualities that I possess is that I am approachable and at the same time good
listener. I love to listen others opinion without giving any judgment or criticizing their
thought and feeling as well. I always show fair judgment and high respect for those people I
interacted. In which through this I can also get their respect and most of all trust. If their is
someone in need I tend to help them or guide them in every action they made as well. While
the personal traits that i didn’t possess is being patient even though our adviser always
reminding us to be more patient especially we are future teachers. I have short patience
especially for those people who are very naughty through this task given I think it will help
me to become more patient especially in handling students. Where I can monitor myself If
there is any changes happen in me. Another one when it comes to leadership, I didn’t say
that I don’t have leadership but I feel that I’m lack of knowledge and capacity in leading
people where I only depend on others. The only solution I see to improve myself is acquiring
self confidence and most of all practicing myself in front of people especially in my students.
2. Which professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating?

 I think the professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating is being good

communicator in which I always try my best to convey my learnings to my students clearly
and correctly, second being able to collaborate, maintaining professional appearance because
as a future teacher we are the role model that inspire and motivate students and our co-
workers that’s why it is important that we show good action. Creativity and initiative that
create a safe learning environment that students can easily acquire the learning they needs by
providing effective teaching materials and teaching methods.

3. In which competencies do I need to develop more?

 I think the competencies I need to develop and enhance more is patient in making lesson
plan and designing because it show full commitment to the profession. Lesson plan
designing is one of the requirements of a teacher and if I don’t have patient in making it, I
think my teaching strategies will not be organized in which students will experience
difficulties in acquiring learning and if I failed in giving lessons properly this is the time
students start to lose trust to you as their teacher.

4. Who are the teachers that we remember most?

 In my point of view, students often remembered teachers who have sense of humor,
approachable and very welcoming, brilliant and passionate. Teachers who cared about
their students. In may past experiences as a students I remembered teachers who always
giving me advice, who are supportive, encouraging and always taking care of his/her
students and saw something that no one else did. This are teachers always listen and fair
to every students he/she met and most of all they are always their to guide, monitor and
help us in times of our difficulties as well.

attitude, fair, a little sense of humor, personal touch and being kind and sympathetic and most of
having a professional competencies like performance and good communication delivery were at
least/ not displayed and as a result, students were/class was impacting student development
especially on their performances in school.

2. REFLECT

The lack of these personal traits and professional competencies (mentioned in #1) may be caused
by poor academic performances of students may caused on their development and growth
especially on their learnings as well.

3. PLAN I would like to address this problem (mentioned in #2) by conducting an action
research on a mechanism for enhancing teacher competency and classroom practice that they
should used student centered approach for them to evaluate and monitor the learnings obtain
by the students in which they can easily adjust and be flexible in every situation that can help
learners for development and growth.

WORK ON MY ARTIFACTS
*** Make Your Reflections *****

Upon observing on my cooperating teacher, I learned that teaching with

passion results to a different impact on students and will have an effective teaching
learning process. In which I observe to each teacher that they have different strategies
to catch the attention of their student through inspiring and encourage them in
motivating words. The teachers of Bugabungan National High School are very
approachable and very considerate in which they are not only focused on their
professional development but as well as to their students holistic development. I wish
I can adopt their being a great teacher that always put their learners first before their
own selves.
Aside from acquiring professional competencies teachers should also
possess personal qualities because being a great teacher doesn’t just merely limit to be
good in making and designing their lesson plan or content expert, but being a good
teacher also possess a kind and caring heart. A teacher who love to listen attentively
to his/her students and even to their co-teachers and treat them like their own child.
That always guide, monitor and notices them if their is problem.
I also realized in my past as a student that I not remember the teacher create
an amazing lesson plans. I never remember how organized our bulletin boards are.
How good they are in designing our room but I remember them through their
kindness, care and concern and most of all effective learning that highly contribute
and mold us. At the end of the day, what really matters is the learning you share to
them, the experience you give that motivate them, for being a great companion to
them that give impact and inspiration in their lives.
