PERFORMANCE TASK IN ENGLISH 10
As your final requirement for this quarter, develop and present a compelling speech. The
purpose of this task is to enhance your skills in argumentative writing and speech delivery. You
will be creating a speech that aims to convince or persuade your audience on any topic of your
choice.
This task is designed to not only improve your writing and speaking skills but also
provide an opportunity for self-expression, so have fun with your speech task!
Topic Selection:
Choose a topic about which you are enthusiastic or that has personal relevance for you. It could
be something you truly care about however, if you can't think of any, these are some ideas:
· Using animals for scientific research is inhumane.
· Should there be world population control?
· Stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone
· Euthanasia should be legalized.
· Both parents should assume equal responsibility in raising a child
· Should parents be held responsible for actions of their children?
· Democracy is the best form of government.
· Should the death penalty exist?
· Homosexual couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples.
· Plastic surgery should be illegal for anyone under 18.
· Abortions should be legal in cases of rape and incest.

Speech Duration:
Your speech should be between 3 to 5 minutes long. Practice to ensure that you stay within this
time frame.
Speech Structure:
Organize your speech with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion
Introduction: Capture the audience's attention and introduce your topic.
Body: Present your main points with supporting details or examples.
Conclusion: Summarize your key points. End with a call to action or a thought-
provoking statement.
Submission
Submit your written speech on the day of your actual performance (January 22-23 2024).

Observe proper format of the essay. (TNR 12, 1.5 spacing, and printed in a short bond paper)
