Institute of Aviation Engineering and Technology (IAET)

Course Name : Electrical Communications (1-A) Sheet # : 2

Course Code : ECE 303 Sheet Title : Signals Analysis Review Dr. Mohamed Sobhy
Level & Semester : 3rd year & 1st Semester

1. Determine the power value for each of the following signals:

a) 𝑥 (𝑡) = 10 cos(100𝑡 + 𝜋⁄3)
b) 𝑥 (𝑡) = (10 + 2 sin(3𝑡)) cos(10𝑡)
c) 𝑥 (𝑡) = 10 sin(5𝑡) cos(10𝑡)
d) 𝑥 (𝑡) = 𝑒 𝑗𝛼𝑡 cos(𝜔0 𝑡)
2. For each of the shown periodic signals, find exponential Fourier series and sketch
the corresponding spectra.

3. Find the Fourier transform of the signals shown:

4. Find Fourier transform of the shown signals using the appropriate properties of the
Fourier transform. Sketch the amplitude and phase spectra. Hint: These functions
can be expressed in the form g(t) cos(𝜔0 t).

5. Signals g1 (t) = 104 rect(104 t) and g 2 (t) = δ(𝑡) are applied at the inputs of the
ideal low-pass filter H1 (𝜔) = rect(𝜔⁄40000 𝜋) and H2 (𝜔) = rect(𝜔⁄20000 𝜋)
as shown. The output y1 (t) and y2 (t) of these filters are multiplied to obtain the
signal 𝑦(t) = y1 (t) y2 (t)
a) Sketch G1 (𝜔) and G2 (𝜔)
b) Sketch H1 (𝜔) and H2 (𝜔)
c) Sketch Y1 (𝜔) and Y2 (𝜔)
d) Find the bandwidths of y1 (𝑡), y2 (𝑡) and y(𝑡)
