Installing FPROG3

The FPROG3 package uses a different installer to previous versions of EPROG5 or FPROG2,

At present FPROG3 will install and run on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 7 32 bit and
Windows 7 64bit. It appears to run on Windows 8 32 bit and Windows 8 64 bit as a legacy Windows
application.

For each Issue version of FPROG3 , there are several installation variants of FPROG3. These are for
different groups of dealers, the factory , and internal Engineering versions.

Each of these installs a copy of FPROG3 and a set of shared resources. It is possible to have more
than one variant installed at a time on the computer, but only one variant of FPROG3 will actually
run at a time on the PC.

Each of these versions uses a different Registration ID number in order to allow it to run. You will
have been provided with the relevant Registration ID number for the variant that you need to install.
Otherwise contact Orolia Customer Support.

C runtime library issue

Dependent upon other programs already installed, there may be a problem with a missing C runtime
library, which will cause FPROG3 to fail to start. If an error about version 8 of a Microsoft DLL
appears, run the vcredist_x86.exe program provided in the same directory as this file to install the
necessary runtime support.

Installation Steps
Before installing a new version of FPROG3 it is important to uninstall any previous versions *of
FPROG3 software.

It is not necessary to remove EPROG5 or FPROG2 installations.

To start installing : double click FPROG3\SetupFPROG3.exe to run an .exe based installer.

If you are running Windows 2000 or want to use a .MSI installer, you can use
FPROG3Win2K\SetupFPROG3.msi.

The installation process documented below is for FPROG2, an earlier Orolia package.

While the steps involved are the same , the appearance of the graphics will differ.

The installation process should end up with several start menu options and a desktop shortcut to
FPROG2 Programmer.
Running FPROG3 for the first time after installation

When you start FPROG3 for the first time, a Product Installation dialog box will appear. The product
registration key will have been given to you. In the case of a CDROM it will appear on the CD box
label or CD label.

There are several different product registration keys. Each unlocks a different set of features and
supported beacons.

There are now expiry dates associated with the registration or access control keys.

If you require a new access control key, please contact Orolia Customer Support.

After that has been provided, FPROG3 will start enumerating all of the plugins for every MID for
which it can program beacons, and enumerating all installed serial ports on the system as usual.
After enumerating serial ports the programmer will present you with the FPROG2 user interface.

And finally the splash screen should be shown, unless you previously selected to not show it on
startup . It can be found by clicking About
And then click on ReadMe!.

Please note that some of the pictures in the ReadMe document will not appear unless you open
the Readme Issue 1.rtf file contained in C:\Program Files\Orolia Ltd\FPROG3 <Variant> or on the
installation CD.
